I like the data bank part. Give us random games to pick from. And I tried making a game design thread. Didn't really go anywhere. But, back then the only constant hosts were me and BDN, so it wasn't very constructive until someone wanted to pitch something random. There's so many more competing hosts now, it'd probably work great. At least for a while.

Well its not random games. We could elect a few people to go through the games posted and pick a few for everyone to vote on and someone can host and everything could be happy. No games would be the same back to back and it gives everyone the chance to post something to add to this great game.

i dont think there should be a preselection. let everybody vote for who they want, because somebody will inevitably want to play a game that wasn't selected. there's really not too many games to pick from anyway and we all know what we played before and whether we want to change it up or not.

Thats why I said the group picks 3 or 4 different games to choose from. I don't quite see how that would be bad or that someone is really going to be that impressed with one game where others aren't.

I'm leaning a little towards Clari, mostly because having 2 separate votes just seems kinda unnecessary to me.
              Meh, I dunno.

Its not two separate votes every time. We pick like, 2 people to keep the thread updated and pick a variety of games out of all the games posted and we vote on those. Only one vote needed, just like normal.

I'm agreeing with Clar on this one, too, but for a different reason. I really like being surprised with the games that everyone comes up with, and having a thread where those games are posted takes a lot of the fun out of the host sign-ups.

Although, if you guys think it could work, you could just try to bump rzr's old thread or something.

                    Re: TWC Rules, Policies, Etc.

games should be discussed on the host's time and over AIM. Having a separate thread for game ideas sounds like an easy way to get a thread cluttered with info we'll see again at the host sign-up threads.

Games shouldn't be suggested unless they're playable and balanced. I know some of us haven't really been following up on this, I know I haven't been as of late, and it's something we should correct.

leave game suggestions to host sign-up threads and to whomever the host chooses to discuss it with before hosting.

~shrug~ Figured I'd try. Everything just kinda seems so cluttered that I thought we could add some rhyme and reason to everything. Its fine tho.

Announcement probz expired. Find the old thread. Made in like Apr of last year. Have a mod re-announce it. Or just have Manti sticky it.

No 'cool games' with special roles until everyone has shown some sort of legitimate improvement playing games where they have no one but themselves to rely on.

This may sound cheesy but I really care about the sub-group. So, I propose that once the next game ends we have some sort of peer evaluation. Not something like Manti telling us how we performed as he has in other games. Everyone has someone to evaluate and we talk about our player in the post-game.
In short, we've lost sight of what makes a successful TWG, and our games are suffering greatly for it. Many of the players here are very disappointingly poor. As I said before:

This doesn't mean there's no room for different setups, but it does mean that you should have a balanced setup that doesn't foster blue alliances. We need to go back to basics.
As such, I have seen fit to develop a set of criteria for use with the games that would be run under this policy. It does limit the scope of games amiably, but also leaves room for creativity. It might need some revision, but that's why I'm posting it here.

                              BASIC GAME CRITERIA

-- A basic game has the traditional setup of one werewolf faction versus the town.

-- A basic game sticks to standard roles, such as Seer, Guardian, Wolfsbane, Psychic, Mason, etc. In fact, basic games do not need to include any other roles other than wolves and humans, so Manhunt games are acceptable as well.

-- Other, more complex roles may be included. However, there should be no more than 1-2 of these, and they should be based around the basic actions of TWG: Killing, Protecting, Investigating, Voting.

-- They should always include plain Humans and/or not overuse roles
                              .

Basic games as defined by this criteria, if this proposal is approved, should be the only games allowed in TWG until the playerbase has developed their skills to reasonable proficiency so as to tackle more complex games as judged by the TWC.

                              ------------------------------------

That's it for now. Debate! Comments, criticisms, questions, go crazy.
