Re: FFR Community Pack III (Submissions Open)
Hello everyone.
I'm new to this site and I've been browsing around. This looks like a pretty interesting pack, but I have a few questions. What are you guys looking for in a file when you're judging, and do you have any examples of some really good files I can try and emulate?
Thanks.Comment

nyhil: download and play ffrcpII as well as dark chancellor pack and dark chancellor mystery pack and you'll have a good idea of what the judges are incredibly biased towardsPatashu makes Chiptunes in Famitracker:

Re: FFR Community Pack III (Submissions Open)
Thanks Patashu!
Okay, so I played some of these files and I will admit this is kind of intimidating. These files seem to be somewhat more complex than most files I've played before. It's really hard to figure out how some people layered their charts, and on top of that there are lots of neat tricks in the files, like mini-freezes and stuff.
I think I'm going to have to practice quite a bit before I decide to submit something...Comment

Re: FFR Community Pack III (Submissions Open)
After you step enough files you automatically pick up on what other people are doing to layer theirs. As an experiment, you can try and step a chart to a song someone else has, and when you finish look at theirs and compare it to yours; think about what they did differently, why, and evaluate which parts you think were done better in their chart and in your chart. Practice layering instruments together to get a 'feel' for the kinds of patterns it makes.Patashu makes Chiptunes in Famitracker:

Re: FFR Community Pack III (Submissions Open)
ya i'll get around to that =(
accepted is whats important
also while i said i let mnemoniq in because of its sender in jest, it is also true that people download packs with recognizable names in them (this is also why i lied and said kil made 2 of the files!). believe me when i say though that there were 0 rejected files that kommi and i thought more worthy than patashu's.
i'm gonna send you white tornado sometime tonight, with work done up till the solo, to see if you like the direction its going at all (probably not...lots of rainbows). if not, i'll scrap it
squirrel--it's whats for dinner.Comment

probably not the judges are all :siren: SPREAD BIASED :siren:
you can try though!
edit: if the hardest chart is spread-based you can couple indexable charts along with itPatashu makes Chiptunes in Famitracker:
