Woah yeah I also have that one sided pain when playing hard songs. I'm left-handed so my right hand will usually begin to lack stamina faster, which isn't a bad thing since it overshadows the pain in my left hand.

I'm left handed but its also my left hand that starts to hurt lol

When I'm not smashing arrows, I'll trill my fingers on the desk or anything nearby. Now I'm pretty good at one handed trills

I tend to slam keys much harder if they're the last notes in a segment of a song, especially if they're relatively loud as compared to the rest of the song. That could be why my fingers are hurting now

I hit the keys with my fingernails.
my unused fingers start stretching and cramping going out in the opposite ditrection as the ones i use and i painful.

Everytime I open up stepmania to play a file, my mind auto thinks about blinking so I had to train myself to blink a lot while at the same time keep focus and now, I am used to it and it became a habit for every other rhythm game I play. It is a good way to not have to worry about blinking LOL

I used to have this really bad habit where I'd crack my knuckles between songs.

I hit compacted scale notes as a single note & I tap my foot along with the music.

I sometimes hit the caps lock key with my left ring finger. lol

This so much. lol

This isn't a SM habit but it derived from it. Whenever I listen to songs irl on my iPod or something like that I ghost tap the entire song on a table or my leg or whatever flat surface there is without even thinking about it. I also almost always tap my foot with the beat of a song and it throws me off a lot.

I can't use my index fingers for SM at all, so I use middles and rings.

I mash during the ridiculous trills.

And I tend to like files that I would never listen to outside of SM.
