Re: Why do we still have the 40 credit limit?
Current credit system: (I think)
1 Credit = 50000 Total Score
Max capped = 40 Credits = 2000000 Total Score
Right?
Revised credit system: (I think would be nice.)
1 Credit = 75000 Total Score
40 Credits = 3000000 Total Score (Near AAA Hajnal)
Uncapped highest = 75 Credits = 5625000 Total Score (Near AAA FFLBF)
If near AAA Hajnal is a bit too harsh for UNknown Girl skill token requirements, change that to like 30 credits. Or change it entirely so that it involves the various Touhou songs in the game... or so that it requires a 666000 total score... lol. I find my revisions quite reasonable in terms of limiting timely credit acquisition and removing the cap.
As for what Oni-Paranoia said, I think so too. As ridiculous as the cost of secret songs get, something like 300k will probably end up causing much "borrowing". I explained sometime before about pooling (mass organization of group credit cooperations), but Tass is bent on the idea that players won't trust other players when it comes to lending high numbers of credits. And the few that do will be easy to weed out and punish.
Adding on to the database limiting factor: (This is inclusive of the fact that I don't know the numerical value of the credit limit.)
IF the database can only hold a certain number of credits, then the database will eventually reach that limit with the expansion of the number of users on this site. Why would there be a need to stimulate all the users to go for 300k total credits?
Even if the database can hold 300k credits for every user, I don't see why there needs to be a limit in severely restricting the speed at which one can acquire up to 300k credits. The admins can cap the max number of credits every user can hold (let's say, about 500k per user) instead of capping the number of credits they get in one song. I think the problem of database credit limit can be avoided more effectually that way.
Yes, I am aware that limiting the number of credits one can hold, will cause problems. Tournaments, the expense of reward credits, etc. I can elaborate on that later though.Last edited by Xx{Midday}xX; 09-30-2008, 10:40 PM.Any FFR song title discrepancies? List them here.

Re: Why do we still have the 40 credit limit?
Here's what we do:
1. Remove the credit cap.
2. Change the way people receive credits. Currently its based on total score I believe. Base it on something else, like the in-game score, not the total, so that mashers don't gain as much as people who play normally.Comment

Re: Why do we still have the 40 credit limit?
I agree with icee. But, I want to point a few more things out too.
First off, I do support getting rid of the credit cap. It really holds back the amount of credits we should be receiving in comparison to song lengths.
Other things though: A while ago, we had a credit glitch that forced the reset of many accounts. Now this may not seem to relevant to the cap NOW, there was something mentioned: 1 credit is the equivalent to around 50,000 total points.
Well, this may be true, but this did not account for those credits that COULD have been gained after the 40 credit cap. Basically saying, it makes it a lot easier to calculate exactly how much should be received in extreme cases like this.
To Iceefudgesickle's point, I agree totally. Mashers should not be able to receive 40 credits by mashing on longer songs, it should be based off of raw scoring.
If the cap is removed and credits become given through raw scoring, there should also be an exact ratio to credits from raw scoring. Again, it provides an easier way to keep track of scores.Comment

FFR people: do it.Comment

Re: Why do we still have the 40 credit limit?
Sounds like a wonderful addition to my idea--no need to change the scoring, just use the regular score (50 for perf, 25 for good, 5 for avg, -5 for boo, -10 for miss), and set that for credits, so mashers still get way less than non-mashers even if they have high combo.

Uncapped highest = 72 Credits = 180000 Score (Near AAA FFLBF)
I guess. Note, I changed Total Score to Score.Any FFR song title discrepancies? List them here.

Re: Why do we still have the 40 credit limit?
I don't think a complete revamp of the scoring system is really needed just to discourage mashing.
I don't think the credit cap is really necessary either.

Re: Why do we still have the 40 credit limit?
Yes, it was 25 for a long time. Also, I've never thought about what Halogen said. If everyone was given 1 credit per 50k GTS in an event of a credit glitch, it would be extremely inaccurate. Everyone would be given more credits than they would have earned by playing because of the 40 credit limit. I don't think they've ever done that, though...I might be wrong.Comment

Yeah, Izzy is right, lol.
How do you think the credits were re-distributed last time we had a glitch?Comment

Re: Why do we still have the 40 credit limit?
That was for people who had more credits than what their GTS/50000 gave them. So they were missing a ton of credits, and the screenshots were proof that they had that much.
My GTS/50000 ended up giving me more credits than I had before. I wish we could get another glitch, because I'd end up with an extra 50K right now.
