Re: Dude they need a metal section...
Metal should really just go under rock. You can find like 50 sub-genres for Dance such as Trance, Euro, Club, but they don't have their own sections. However I do agree we need more metal but getting permission is hard. There's a fine line between screaming into a microphone and playing chords really fast. To get some good mentalists you need to pay big bucks and FFR doesn't pay at all.Comment

Re: Dude they need a metal section...
If DF permission does happen, only 1 or 2 songs will ever get into FFR. The rest will be rejected for being too long.Comment

Re: Dude they need a metal section...
If there were actually enough metal songs to warrant a metal genre, this would be a great idea. I don't care that metal is a rock sub-genre, there's no way you can tell me that Driveway sounds anything like The Epidemic of Unexpected Relapses.Comment

Re: Dude they need a metal section...
The solution: Hunt down some metal artists, get permissions, step songs, submit songs, play songs.
There is no need for a new genre. Metal falls into the Rock category. If it was its own genre, then drum and bass, club, and trance, would need to have their own as well, along with R&B, screamo, emo, Xmas music, etc. etc. etc. you get the point.Comment

Re: Dude they need a metal section...
Metal isn't a good type of music that's easily to step. That's why we don't have that much. Better to keep it mixed in the Rock genre to save space.Seriously, for the more aggressive players and whatnot, seperate from the rock. I don't know, I am a huge metalhead and I listen to music and im like "Damn this would be a fun song for Flash Flash". I don't know, this has probably been talked about before but I think it is a good idea.
Yeah?

yeah, last time i tried a thread like this, it got locked, and i got told that there will never be a metal genre because they'll just file it under Rock.

Re: Dude they need a metal section...
Boomstick (a gabber song) sounds nothing like Sandstorm.. but both fall under the genre of "Electronica" into their own subgenres.
Therefore: Metal is a subgenre of Rock.
Also, subgenres and such have been discussed, before. Most we're getting is a Dance 3. That's about it.What?Comment

Re: Dude they need a metal section...
No.
Then we need an "Emo" genre and a "Screamo" genre. Not to mention let's just rip Dance apart and make:
- Techno
- Trance
- Trancecore
- Breakbeats
- Breakcore
- Drum 'n' bass
Then let's pick the Misc genre apart too. We'd have 8billion options on the spin wheel.
And, like said before, metal is technically classified as rock. Really, it doesn't even fit the definition of music, but it's still classified as rock so that's where it belongs.Comment

Emo is not a genre, Screamo can be a run-off of MetalComment
