The more I think of this, I realize what I really want for this site to continue isn't necessarily to make the website and engine "cool and renewed". (Though both could make it better definitely).

We just need more content, that's all a game can ask for beyond all else. More music, more content, all that good stuff. I'll admit, this website, as dated as it is, doesn't bother me in the slightest. Nor does the flash-based game which is why this site is branded the way it is. Is FFR laggy? Hell yeah, but man are there some good charts on this site.

Which is why I'm sort of happy with the now constant barrage of updates in regards to the batch shit. In fact, remember when I mentioned months ago or even a year ago where I wanted the batch system to be like the osu! modding system?

Yeah... I still think that should be a thing. Not think, IT SHOULD BE A THING. Qualified people to hell, I think everyone should have a say to every single file that gets put in the game, no matter the skill level, no matter how biased, no matter how awkwardly worded.

I mean for god sakes, this website is a COMMUNITY DRIVEN SITE. It has been since FFR came back from death after a year long black out. To deny players to give a voice to files that are put in game is... I don't know, it just seems real shitty.

I've always felt that way ever since I wanted to somehow get my charts in this game (which did happen, heh).

More songs + More Server Space (or if not possible, try using alt engine shenanigans) + More Fun Events (including tournaments) that may include money prizes (no matter how small).

I gotta disagree, to be honest. You mentioned that you felt like this site has felt dead since 2012, but a ton of new songs have been added in that time. I don't know anything about how much free space is left on the server(s), but I haven't heard it mentioned as an issue in quite a while, and I'd be surprised to hear if that's a concern as far as adding new songs goes.

Can't argue with the idea that events help with site activity. I'd just say that prizes don't have to be cash prizes. (Those brass tokens were damn cool.)

I don't mean to naysay new content or continued efforts to engage the community here. Just sayin', I don't think you're quite reaching the core of what's needed to "keep this site alive," as you phrased it.

If I were to be so blunt, sarcastic, and a smart ass, I would say the core of keeping this site alive is to never have the server go down.

I think the way the current batch is being handled pretty much sums up why I've given up stepping anything anymore. I even sent polite requests for some answers relating to the batch sent to two GMs, once twice and the other once, and just got completely ignored on all three counts. That was pretty disgusting and just killed off all the willingness I had to help out FFR where I could. I'm not really inspired by that, at all, and at this point the effort-reward balance is just completely off: I step files and hope that other people can enjoy them, not for them to wait around in lmbo for a whole year++ just for comments .

From an outsider's perspective (I haven't really been active in a while so I'm not really caught up on what's been happening for the past like 6 months), if FFR is to succeed in staying alive it would point to getting more people playing the game - looking at the website itself it doesn't seem like it puts the actual game into the spotlight. There's a small link on the navigation bar on the homepage and another on the side navigation panel, but you'd think that there would be a bigger "Play FFR" button centered or something. I dunno, the site looks really nice layout-wise but it's structured more as just a message board rather than the website for a game.

I've sent some pm's to some staff (Dossar just recently) and haven't gotten replies. Maybe they just don't check their inboxes .-.

I saw these and just replied; I've been stacked up with Selenium automation and other tasks for this site and sometimes I forget to reply.
