I'm still using Windows 7. Works fine for me. Like badman said, if it ain't broke don't fix it. I can't really use this computer for gaming since I can't run most games smoothly on it but not sure if that's because of Windows 7 or the computer itself. It's most likely the latter. I have another computer with Windows 8 and personally I find it to be a jumbled mess and much more complicated to use than it needs to be. FFR runs fine for me on flash player 9.

You've found the perfect standalone FP and computer settings to be doing so well. If you don't mind what FP and settings you're using it could help rushy out with his troubles.

I use flash player 9, my os is 64 bits... that's about it! I can't run 3d games like surgeon simulator because the framerate is less than 1 fps, but aside from that it's pretty swell. Games like ikaruga and hotline miami run with 0 problem.

I hear Win 8/8.1 was a nice improvement on memory usage over 7 which I currently have. I'll probably upgrade for that reason alone. And my interest in FFR is pretty much nill since I got vROFL, so if it nukes performance there, well, that's not really a big issue for me.

No, most modern cards have DX12 support. Though some of the features of DX12 are only available with newer tech

Perhaps it wasn't broke, but there's always room for improvement and innovation. Windows 10 is an improvement over Windows 8 (both objectively and subjectively).

I'm sure fairly new cards (one's that are out now) will get driver updates to be compatible with DX12 eventually, but if you're talking ancient cards (technologically speaking) probably not.

Are you sure badman's machine is running 8 currently, rather than 7?
