Elaborate for me then, if you will.

When the game isn't fun for you anymore, take a break. It's not a job, nobody here is professional and getting paid to play and force themselves to constantly improve... it's a game.

Re: Should Revo and CP be swapped with their token counterparts?
None of the legacy files are banished. They're moved into another genre to label them and keep them for the history of the site. They are still part of public ranks but are not deserving to be a part of today's files. Notepad based files are clearly not up to par as SM-converted files so why should they be included in Dance 1, 2, rock, etc. if there's a clear quality difference? You've already banished the Legacy files as they aren't up to the standard of files in FFR. If anything, Revolutionary Etude should be left untouched. You'd make them play a *better* file to unlock an already-identified-as low-quality file? I thought most tokens were rewards.
CP isn't being moved to Legacy. The talk is to swap the Token version with the terrible public version. The requirement to play the original CP being moved to tokens would be to pass the token version that's being moved to public. As for Crowdpleaser, it's kinda up in the air. The only bad part of that file is the mega-trill much like the only bad part of Runny Morning is the mega jack/runningman. You've already discussed moving Crowdpleaser to Legacy, so that might just be the easiest fix. Although, Crowdpleaser isn't Blue Note Syndromed, so it doesn't fit in perfectly.
Legacy isn't grouped with tokens (except ones that were already tokens, I don't remember if there are legacy tokens or not.) Legacy is fully integrated with public ranks just separated from the musical genres.
It's only swapping 2 files at this time. Not the ENTIRE legacy genre.Last edited by ~Zeta~; 08-1-2013, 06:25 PM.

Re: Should Revo and CP be swapped with their token counterparts?
xpost from last thread:
There's going to be a lot of coding involved, since currently Revo and CP v2 are tokens unlocked by passing the v1. I'd like to think it's a simple matter of swapping song IDs in the relevant section of the source code, and we could even keep the current requirements (pass v2 to unlock v1), but something tells me there's enough complications that there might even need to be some downtime to make the necessary changes on the backend. One example of a complication would be a user that doesn't have CPv2 or REv2. Without v2 unlocked, they can't unlock v1. Unless there's code stating "this song is accessible to everyone if it's in this genre" or something.
As things are, Revo v1 and CP v1 are both buried quite deep in their respective genres, so I don't see why they should be moved. It's not like people will accidentally play them. However, despite CP v1's joke nature, we can't make it a token akin to vROFL because it's been out since 2006. If you don't want to play them, don't. If you care about these two songs tanking your avrank, well, that's your problem.Originally posted by thesunfanI literally spent 10 minutes in the library looking for the TWG forum on Smogon and couldn't find it what the fuck is this witchcraft IGR

Re: Should Revo and CP be swapped with their token counterparts?
Just because they're old doesn't justify that they should stay [in public ranks] with their steps. It's also quite rude to tell people to deal with it when the files in question are horrendous to play. It's absurd that the files have stayed in public ranks for their "difficulty" from erroneous (in hindsight) judgment. Public files are there to represent FFR for all that play, not to abide by nostalgia or the people who have been around for years. They are not being removed from the game. They're being put in a better place that doesn't tarnish FFR.As things are, Revo v1 and CP v1 are both buried quite deep in their respective genres, so I don't see why they should be moved. Analogy time -
So Pluto is still a planet then too I guess. It was a planet for 76 years, but when people really started to question whether it belonged as such, people saw that Pluto was more similar to the Kuiper Belt objects than the rest of the planets. Pluto is now a "Joke Planet"
It certainly can be made a token, and I don't see it's longstanding classification as a public file should bear any weight on where joke files belong .... as token files. As for how difficult it would be to implement, ask Velo. I have little to no knowledge of the site's coding other than the fact that it's put together like a house of cards.Comment

Re: Should Revo and CP be swapped with their token counterparts?
It wouldn't be difficult to swap them. As in like, I could do it and I know next to nothing about coding (just need an admin to input the new skill token code once created). So don't worry about that being a potential issue.

Absolutely, why not? As long as they're reasonably easy to unlock (and they will be) there's no problem. We would also have CP and Revo in the token ranks, which is awesome.Best AAA: Policy In The Sky [Oni] (81)
