While I did make a mention of grind2, I was mostly joking; I don't think it's fair to apply frame fixes to a file that people have spent an excessive amount of time to learn in a previous way.

However, I am in support of modifying the files only if the stepartist is aware of it. Some people might not want their files tampered with.

It seems that a lot of people don't understand what Wayward Vagabond is saying. Long story short, someone (won't list any names) modified one of his charts as it was being put in-game - without his permission.

Any modifications not made by the stepartist him/herself must be notified and agreed upon. If I modified someone's chart without telling him/her, that would be abusing my position.

Edit: In case someone mistakes what I meant by "the site" I meant the people in charge of managing the game.
I think it is just a matter of respect overall. Also, what if there was a major issue with the "frame-fixing" and for some reason, the people responsible for this loses the data of the file. Given the permission, at least the stepartist in this situation is aware of this. (Not that I'm sure that this would happen, but we generally need to consider every possible flaw in the process).

Think of stepfiles as a piece of art (I know it's iironiic since my files are crap to you anyways xd). Essentially it is a form of expression that shows how a stepartist interprets the music. You wouldn't want people screwing around with one's work without permission do you?

This is the only legitimate reason why I am not 100% into the process of frame fixing. But the only thing I can say about this is that once files are framer-fixed, the newer files propose a new challenge which is generally exciting and can be frustrating. I suppose one could argue that framers create this exciting challenge as well, but I would rather have a file that plays more accurately while having this challenging aspect to find new ways to optimizing score over a file that is a framer mess.

Im all in for having bad framers fixed. I also dont believe we need to get permission from the step artists in order to do this. Modifying the chart itself is one thing that you need to be getting permission for, but this issue is due to a bad conversion. These step artist didnt intentionally step the chart with the knowledge of exactly where these bad framers would pop up, so why do we need to ask them to fix something that they had no control on when their charts got converted for the game? Its not like the frame fixes are going to make a dramatic change in the scores anyway, so dont see why it is such an issue.

The first thing that comes to mind is a song that has really tight grace notes, some of which that go in and out between 0/1-framers. If the person fixing the file opts into making all of the flams/graces into jumps, they're ruining the interpretation of the file.

That's just one particular scenario where a frame fix might mess up a chart for the person who created it.

Stepper has copyright for their stepfiles, other people can't edit their works without permission. This includes Site Staff.

Edit @Silvuh: The same thing happened in WHO GIVES A F***, some of the two-toned jumps were converted as a frame apart. I'm currently trying to decide if I should fix it and then re-up after the round is done.

In this case, I will bold the files and throw in (***) to signify that files in the OP are approved by the stepartist to have their files framer-fixed.

Updated too. Please let me know if I missed one.

Huh. I guess I learned something new.

Either way if there's a framer issue with Epilogue go ahead and fix it, along with any future charts I manage to get in game.

We are not editing their work though is the thing, these artist had no control over these issues, therefore, there shouldnt be a need for a permission to fix.

I honestly dont understand how people dont know the difference between editing the chart itself and editing a conversion error. Its not that hard to comprehend.

Re: Songs In Need of Framer Fixing!

Yeah the point is sync fix and framer fix should included in "stepfile modification" or not.

My opinion is no, since it's game manager who converts original dwi to via a converter, and framer issues are considered to be converter's issue, and not artist's intention.

So, "shifting all notes by XX frames (offset fix)" and "shifting particular notes by a frame" are conversion fixes and not stepfile modification. The legitimacy of these changes should be determined by game managers, any other changes should require stepartist's consent. Of course step artists can request any frame fixes for their own files if needed (earlier is better, though).

This so bad.. (Largiloquent Dithyramb) [34]-[34][34]-[34][34]-[34][34].

Reality would need help too, maybe For FFR.

                          Correction: definitely For FFR.

Unfortunately though, it's a blue note file, so it can't be changed.

I'm going to add, the 32nd rolls in Rise Up (1400ish combo) are messy as hell.

                            Framers? I'd guess yeah.

So how exactly is this going to work? Will I be able to make frame fixes to something like Skeletor even though bluguerrilla hasn't been in this thread yet?
