Twist of Fate Posted on: October 25, 2007, at 03:39:43pm So as self deterministic as I am, it has become rather apparent that this silly ideology of free-will, this impending desire for choice, is nothing more then a mere illusion. An individual is no more then a function of its genetic and environmental inputs. From the moment of conception right down to the last breath, the choices that are inherently "chosen" have been decided by all the given conditions of the reality in which one is placed. Nothing on this planet, this universe, or any other can escape the fact that there are laws that govern it. Whether apparent to us as human beings or not, they are our universal truths. Every reaction is determined by its cause. I kick a rock... something happens. And this something has been governed by every past experience and action to the date of its timely arrival. Human beings have the distinct mentality of the present, but they also recollect on the past. As of such, every past action or experience aforementioned will effect the outcome of that in which is done... The blue pill or the red pill? Choose what you will. |

But if everything's action/reaction, then how can we explain how everything started?

My personal opinion? The universe isnt the entire system. I figure, if you think about string theory for a moment, that this universe began from another universe's end...perhaps a black hole? Who knows for sure, but it seems to be the most logical assumption Ive heard and thought about.

But then where did the other universe come from? Where did what's outside the universe come from?

Probabilistically speaking, every option that can be taken IS taken, with seperate states of consciousness associated with them independantly...so essentially multiple universes are likely created with every second that passes us by. However, the origin of our timeline you ask? Well that is a convenient loophole that many a religion have been sneaking through since their instantiation. I believe that the actions at CERN will provide much depth on the transformation of energy outside of a given system into matter into a given system, likely by the elusive Higgs. If this happens to be truth, then we have not only a general unifying theory (save gravity), but we also have a possible explination on how our universe was created...13 some-odd billion years ago.
