The Path Forward

I stand in the rain
With the tears of the clouds kissing my skin
Taking away my pain
Feeling as though I have not a sin.

A flash of lightning
Brightens up the sky
So things aren't as frightening
Making me want to cry.

A boom of thunder
Echoes through the night
Letting me know I'm not going under
And helps take away my fright.

Courage being something I lack
Although I know this decision is mine to make
I look forward and then back
Wondering which path to take.

Suddenly, the rain stops and the clouds part
The sun shining brightly on the way in front of me
And in that moment, I know in my heart
The path forward is my destiny.
