From a Trisection of the Summer Starry Sky comes a Technostorm Hurricaine of strength -Y!

Posted in Song of the Week, Tokens on August 18th, 200735 Comments »

So, I lost track of time yesterday and forgot to add a new user easy skill token. To make up for that, I’ve added two today. Summer Starry Sky is a very ambient song by TAM, that nearly reminds me of elevator music or hold music on a phone. Very soothing. Stepfile is by jimerax and is a 2. To unlock, Pass Trip to the Moon (Dance) with 80+ Perfects.

Technostorm Hurricaine is our 2nd new user easy skill token of the day. It is a techno song by RaustBlackDragon. No surprise at all that our own resident dragon, SulferDragon, quickly jumped on the opportunity to make this chart. It’s a low 4, IMO. To unlock, get a 250+ combo on RainDrops (Dance).

Public SotW is also on the easier side. Trisection is a Hard Rock remix of some video game song (someone correct me if I’m wrong on this) by Hiroshi Sakimoto. The remix is by Glome. The stepfile is by hi19hi19 and is a 7/12. Many of you will say that this file should be harder… but don’t fear! We do have a v2 in the works that will be much harder. You can find this song in Arcade (yes, I know, I flip flop on this all the time, with the Touhou remix songs in Rock, but I know this is an Arcade remix BEFORE adding it, as opposed to after). If you have enjoyed some of our other recent VG Rock songs, such as The Brain of the Moon or The Dreams of Scarlet, you’ll greatly enjoy Trisection as well.

Subscriber SotW is also up in Funk for testing.

Enjoy,

-Tass

The Flashbulb

Did I get your attention? Tonight’s easy skill token is Do Not Sex To This by The Flashbulb. It is a short and sweet song, very different than your normal Flashbulb experience. Personally, I would not sex to it… but, I won’t tell you guys what to do. If you really want to, you have my permission to sex to this. But only once! The file is by 1st time stepfiler L Endorphin L, who also made this most recent batch of token images. To unlock, pass Activity Unbroken (Dance) with 30 or less misses.

Truly yours, unsexing to this,

Special Release! FFR Welcomes Veritas to the family!

Posted in Flash Flash Revolution on August 13th, 200735 Comments »

I’d like to welcome the Southern California band Veritas to our family. Veritas mashes hard rock with synth pop for a sound that is gutsy, catchy and delightfully odd. (I stole that right from their myspace… I’m so unoriginal). Anyway, their keyboardist, Jamie (aka White Thunder), is a good friend of mine, so I implore all of you to go and check out their myspace and their website. I’ll be seeing them in concert tonight, so any special requests you might have for them, post them up and I’ll pass them along.

The song is called 5 Black Skulls. It carries a sweet synth sound throughout, and some very Metal-ish lyrics. Mad props, as always, to our evil stepfile genius jimerax for busting this out in record time for me. You can play 5 Black Skulls in Rock, upper left hand corner of Page 1. The file is very doubles heavy with a smattering of 16th trill streams to the drums. I’d rate it a high 8.

Enjoy, and again, check out Veritas on myspace or epitunes,

So, for the latest spinfile, we have a song by an extraordinary musician, Karius Vega. He makes some of the most unique, emotional, and organic electronic music out there. I recommend you all pay him a visit at his myspace (http://myspace.com/kariusvega) and thank him for his awesome music.

You can also thank lord_carbo for making this awesome spinfile. It’s a tricky one!

I GOT A AAA…. I’M RAVING AT THE COSMIC ORCHESTRA!!!

Posted in Flash Flash Revolution on August 13th, 200734 Comments »

First off… our new user skill token for tonight. I’m Raving is originally a song by Scooter. Our version is remixed by new FFR artist B0UNC3, although I’ve received many submissions of songs by him. His homepage is here, although I found it to load a bit slow. Very catchy song, for sure. Stepfile is by Ben Speirs, of the way too difficult to type out username group. I rated it a low 4; please give me some input on whether you think it should be a 3 or not. To test this file, pass Love You Anymore (Hip-Hop) with 40 or less goods.

Today’s public Song of the Week is, along with Szamar Madar from a few updates ago, a new personal favorite of many of our forumites. Cosmic Orchestra is a very classy progressive rock song by OSTER Project. The stepfile is mostly 16th jumpbursts at 150bpm, but it has a few non 4-framer 24th streams and 1 long 24th trill that is entirely 4-framers. Because of that, it is a solid 10 in difficulty. I HIGHLY suggest you all check out this masterpiece by jimerax, and give him mad props. You can find it at the very very end of the Rock genre.

Today’s subscriber SotW is a pretty well known remix stepped by Exag0n. It is AAA by DM Ashura. You can find it in Funk.

And for those nitpickers… I’m in California. It isn’t midnight yet here.

The color coding for usernames is as follows:

We are continually evolving the features and will be in there over the next few days taking feature requests and chatting with everyone. Come visit your profile to check it out! :)

Whole Bunch of Small Stuff – Profile Chat Update, SotW, New Rock songs, Easy ST.

First off, check out the new profile chat! Yea! This is working off of the same technology as the embedded player chats (Yes, all the myspace embedded players have their own chats!). So, check it out. It’s really swanky and hot looking and awesome. Not to mention, it’ll be much easier for us to moderate!

Yesterday I released the 3rd and 4th song by LoveHateHero into Rock, which had previously been exclusive to their embedded player. They’re upper left of Rock. I have since moved the other rock songs by LoveHateHero and Making April to their appropriate spots throughout the genre. So, enjoy the songs and check out their awesome sites.

Today’s Public SotW is State of Emergency by SynthWulf. I’m not really sure how this happened, but apparently this song became public 1 week ago as opposed to today, and I never noticed. Oh well. Many of you may know this song from Spin It Up. It’s 190bpm and pretty fast paced. It has a bunch of 4-frame jacks in it, so watch out! Difficulty is a 10, because of the 4-framers. Stepfile is by Silver_Brian. You can find it on Page 4 of Misc.

Today’s subscriber SotW is available on Page 2 of Funk. It is Never Look Back by DJ SBX (SymBiotiX). Interesting coincednece that I just spoke with SBX yesterday about getting more of his stuff in game. I do what I can to please the musicians; without them, there wouldn’t be an FFR. Will have a full write up on the song in 3 weeks when it’s public.

Finally… today’s easy Skill Token! 5.1.1. (AG Supercool Mix) is, in fact, a supercool mix of the song 5.1.1. by DJ Nagureo remixed by Aerogroove. The stepfile is a cut of the full song, and is either a hard 2 or an easy 3. This file is MixMasterLar’s 1st file to get into the game, after lots and lots of failed submissions and re-submits. He proves the power of dedication, in that if you work hard and keep at it, you can get a file into the game. To unlock, Pass Dance 2 This (Dance1) with 20 or less boos.

Hope that wasn’t too much information for all of you…
