December Spin Celebration Part 2: Turn it Down a Notch
While I might be a little slow at most times, I do look at all of the criticisms of the game and take them to heart. Thus, this week we are looking at aiding those users who find Spin It Up too hard to play. Starting today, you’ll find a beefy selection of songs rated from difficulties 1 through 3, new practice and introduction levels, a revised difficulty scale and much, much more.
If you find yourself having difficulty playing the game, I advise starting with the brand new “Welcome to Spin It Up” and Spin It Up practice tutorials located in difficulty level 1. Welcome to Spin It Up is narrated and created by the Spin It Up approved artist /DJS\ and introduces the basics of the game to first-time players. /DJS\ has also spun a short house track that accompanies four practice levels, each focusing on a major type of pattern found in the game:
Spin It Up Wave Practice (Tutorial): A general practice of waves repeating in 4/4 time to assist players in nailing the basic fundamentals of wave catching.
Spin It Up Cross Practice (Tutorial): Removes the measures of rest from the wave practice to allow players to practice quickly switching from one adjacent wave direction to the next.
Spin It Up Spin Practice (Tutorial): Produces strings of adjacent waves in circular patterns to practice the signature Spin It Up spinning patterns.
Spin It Up Flip Practice (Tutorial): Produces waves in patterns that are parallel to each for practicing Spin It Up’s hardest patterns – flips.
All tutorials begin with waves in the upper left quadrant to get you situated. Once you get through the basics or if you don’t need the practice, you can dive into our new beginner songs created specifically for this week:
Altar of Darkness by Reone662 – Level 1 by SulferDragon
AM-3P (Sanxion7′s House Dub Mix) by Sanxion7 – Level 1 by MixMasterLar
Ninja by Beatmouse – Level 1 by MixMasterLar
Warp Zone by EMB – Level 1 by MixMasterLar
Mega Man III Title Theme by C. Stewart – Level 1 by nestlekwik
Heaven’s Getting Closer by Beatmouse – Level 1 by MixMasterLar
Gaea’s Thunder by wickedawesomeful – Level 2 by SulferDragon
Halcyon by SuperGreenX – Level 3 by Arcsynth
Lover, Just Drive by SleeplessDragn feat. “>/DJS\ – Level 3 by MixMasterLar

December Spin Celebration: 5 Years of FFR on SIU

Hold onto your hats (or any other article of clothing you happen to be wearing; if this does not apply, I am officially scared), because here we go with the December Spin Celebration.
As promised, Saturday, Dec. 8 is here and we now have the first of our four special Spin It Up additions. This week’s theme celebrates an anniversary of the very fiber of our existance – 5 years of Flash Flash Revolution. In this update, you will find a robust recognition of 18 songs, 12 of which are brand, spanking new to Spin it Up, which celebrate a handful of songs popularized in Flash Flash Revolution 1st Style and the early days of Flash Flash Revolution 2nd Style. 12 songs is kind of like the 12 days of Christmas, so this theme thing is really playing into my hand, right?
From its humble beginnings in 2002 on a single, black page to the huge, involving community it has become today in 2007, Flash Flash Revolution couldn’t be possible without you or the massive number of artists who have allowed us to use showcase their music throughout the years. So, sit back for a couple of minutes and enjoy these classic tunes, now live in Spin It Up:
1st Style Revisited

NEW! – Terror From Beyond by Digital Explosion – FFR Song #1 – Difficulty Level 6 by MixMasterLar
Recognized as the very first song added to the game in the Flash Flash Revolution songlist, the origins of FFR are now up for enjoyment in Spin It Up.

8 New SIU Songs, December Spin Celebration!
Oh, noes! A nestlekwik post – it must be about Spin It Up! You’ve never been more correct my good friend. Now that Thanksgiving is over and we’ve snapped out of holiday mode, let’s push ahead to what’s happening now as well as next month. To bring you up to speed, here are the recent additions brought to Spin It Up in recent weeks:

Otaku Speedvibe by Neon Genesis Gabbangelion – Level 8(!) spinfile by jugglinguy
Galaxy by Detatch – Level 2 spinfile by BEN.(SPEIRS) 7.5

Speed Limit by /DJS\ – Level 6 spinfile by MixMasterLar
/DJS\ has graciously let us use a number of his tracks in Spin It Up and recently released a brand new album which is available on the /DJS\ official Web page. While we have a number of esteemed popular bands debuting in Flash Flash Revolution, don’t forget about our independent artists, which also have a number of featured widgets you can find, play and receive embed codes for in our vast, ever-expanding Flash Flash Revolution widgets page.
This week there will be no song additions made to Spin It Up, but fret not, as it is giving us time to prepare for a savory month of spinning come December. In an effort to make some holiday noise, Spin It Up will feature hefty song additions throughout the entire month of December, once a week on each Saturday starting on December 8. Because we are cute and clever, each Saturday will have a different theme to it that befits the songs added in that week to bring some holiday flavor to the game. Since you’ll have time away from school for the holiday, what better time to grab a hot cup of cocoa and spin along to some new tunes on your favorite online site? Just, please, please, please be careful with that cocoa and don’t spill it on yourself or the computer while you play, alright?
So far the schedule for the month looks like this:
Saturday, Dec. 8 – ?????
Saturday, Dec. 15 – ?????
Saturday, Dec. 22 – ?????
Saturday, Dec. 29 – ?????
Mysterious, isn’t it? A lot of long-time members should especially enjoy our first week of additions, but that week’s theme is under wraps until December 8th. As always, you can whittle down the anticipation by jumping over to play Spin It Up on this very site and have a spin at the 77 songs we currently have featured in the game. Don’t forget about the Spin It Up forum, where you can discuss Spin It Up, provide feedback on how we can make the game better and even learn how to contribute spinfiles.
That’s all for now. See you on December 8th!
- Nestlekwik (If you’re amazed that I remembered to put my name here, clap your hands really loud and cheer)
Catch Up on the Recent Spin It Up Additions
It’s been a short while since the last Spin It Up update on the front page, however, all has not been quiet on the Spin It Up front. In the past two weeks, an additional 12 songs have made their way into the game, so prepare for a large batch of new dizzying spinfiles when you launch the game.
While I normally do a couple of sentences for each song, with 12 new additions, I’m afraid I would stretch the page into oblivion with my long-winded hot air if I did, so, here is the full list of song additions as of today:
As Do I by Prophecy – Difficulty Level 2 spinfile by MixMasterLar
Emotion’s Run by Darkstalker-X – Difficulty Level 5 spinfile by MixMasterLar
Linkxz by Sleeplessdragn – Difficulty Level 8 spinfile by MixMasterLar
{Event Horizon} by cornandbeans – Difficulty Level 5 spinfile by SulferDragon
Melted Marble by Darkesword – Difficulty Level 7 spinfile by SulferDragon
Rewind by DJ Scratchin’ – Difficulty Level 5 spinfile by MixMasterLar
Snowfall [Final Mix] by Arcsynth – Difficulty Level 3 spinfile by SulferDragon
That Is Fair by Vospi – Difficulty Level 2 spinfile by SulferDragon
Go, Go, Go Ultimate Chase by RaustBlackDragon – Difficulty Level 6 spinfile by SulferDragon
Take Me Back by KaW – Difficulty Level 5 spinfile by jugglinguy
Huzzah! by RaustBlackDragon – Difficulty Level 6 spinfile by jugglinguy
This has not yet been announced in the forum yet, but, for a fun bonus for everyone last night, I threw in an extra song:
Fun at Times by Detach – Difficulty Level 2 spinfile by BEN.(SPEIRS) 7.5
Count those up and that brings your total amount of new songs to 12. But, wait, there’s more! In difficulty level two, you will find Teenage Dirtbag by Wheatus is back in action. As a friendly reminder, the spinfile for the song was done by BEN.(SPEIRS) 7.5.
As long as you’re enjoying Spin It Up, be sure to stop by and thank MixMasterLar, jugglinguy, SulferDragon and BEN.(SPEIRS) 7.5 as they have been the key producers of spinfiles for the game since I’ve been adding in the levels. As always, contributions are appreciated and you can find out more on how to produce spinfiles for the game in the Spin It Up section of our on-site forum. While you’re there, give us a shout out to let us know how we improve the game, socialize with other players and share your Spin It Up accomplishments. And don’t forget Spin It Up also offers real-time multiplayer for up to four players so we hope to see you out there!
Take Group X and The White Tie Affair for a Spin
Spin It Up is back and it’s back in a big way, baby! Starting today you can find two new spinfiles in-game, both featuring some very unique artists.
Following up on The White Tie Affair’s widget, BEN.(SPEIRS) 7.5 has supplied us with a spinfile for the song The Letdown. As such, you can now find The Letdown in playable Spin It Up form both on our Spin It Up official game page and The White Tie Affair’s embeddable widget. The file is rated two on the difficulty scale due to a large number of flips, however, you should have no problem tackling the song.
Next on the list is the comedic stylings of Group X (www.groupxarab.com). Group X’s long-awaited debut comes now with the addition of Shfifty Five. The creators of the infamous Mario Twins will enlighten you of the secrets of Shfifty Five thanks to spinfile created by MixMasterLar. You can also find this song in difficulty level two.
Sorry again for the Spin It Up downtime. I will be going through a number of spinfile entries in the next few days, but please feel free to continue submitting spinfiles to spinfiles@gmail.com. As always you can discuss Spin It Up, provide suggestions for the game and learn how to contribute spinfiles in our official Spin It Up forum section.
Triple Spin Tuesday
I’ve made the weekly adjustments to Spin It Up, adding not just one, not even two, but three (that’s this many – 3) new spinfiles to the game that will provide some great variety to your audible day.
Because I’m a generous and all-around cool guy, I added in two spinfiles on Saturday. The first song is the upbeat piano piece Field of Snow by KgZ, which can be found by scrolling up once in difficulty level 4. SulferDragon provides a nice spinfile for the song that features a few 1/8th note flips while not making the file too difficult. The second bonus song debuts a new artist on our site by the name of g-r4ve. In constrast to Field of Snow, Neckbreaker is a lot dirtier and darker, most likely taking its name from what will happen if you bang your head too much to the bassline. I handled spinfile duties on the song, which you can find by scrolling up once in difficulty level 3, with a straightforward spinfile that follows the take-no-prisoners bass.
Keeping tabs on Tuesday releases, MixMasterLar and DJ Sharpnel hit the site once again with a Lar-produced spinfile to Sharpnel’s Ken’s Theme. Satisfying the demand made during the fireside chat, DJ Sharpnel lends the remix treatment to Ken’s stage theme from Street Fighter II in Spin It Up’s newest addition. MixMasterLar pieced together a moderately difficult spinfile for the song, which can be played by scrolling up once in difficulty level 5.
And what Spin It Update (isn’t that clever?) would be complete if I didn’t mention you can give your input on the game, contribute and more at the Spin It Up section of the forums? On secondary notes, be sure you don’t miss out on a week of 70 brand new FFR songs by becoming an FFR subscriber. Also, for those entered into the Official FFR Tournament, don’t forget your deadline to submit your results is on the horizon – Thursday, September 20 at 11:59 p.m. EST.
Weekly Spin It Up Additions
As promised, a spinfile was placed in Spin It Up both Saturday and now today, adding two more songs to the mix with spinfiles courtesy of MixMasterLar.
The song I dropped in today has made an appearance in FFR and is now in spin form as a difficulty level 1 file. The classic piano ambient Beatmania song receives a complete overhaul by Aerogroove who brings us 5.1.1. (AG Supercool Mix). 5.1.1.’s spinfile is as relaxing as the song itself, throwing out spinning patterns that shouldn’t overwhelm a player. Added Saturday, to the tune of a higher difficulty, is a new level 5 file with a song brand new to the site. Gray Fox lends his talent to the game with the funky stylings of Yager, a song which Fox dedicates to Firebreeder. The spinfile for Yager is, of course, a lot tougher than 5.1.1. and features some flips and “gallop”-type steps, but should prove to be a lot of fun for the intermediate players.
On a side note, players should be glad to know that artists who have FFR widgets will now have any Spin It Up files added to the game, automatically added to their respective widget as well. It wasn’t announced previously, but through widget additions, the songs Driveway by Making April and Goodbye, My Love by LoveHateHero are also now featured in Spin It Up. We are currently working on a means for providing widgets for artists in Spin It Up but not currently in FFR, so look forward to the announcement of new widgets for our hard-working SIU song artists.
As always, I would like to remind our users that you can participate in giving us ideas on how to improve Spin It Up, contribute to the game and more at our Spin It Up forum section. Also, this post comes pretty soon after Tass’s announcements below so be sure to check it out to find out info on Thursday’s Fireside Chat with Tass and Jasonkey and the announcement of 70 brand new subscriber songs to be implemented soon. If you don’t want to miss out on all of the exclusive songs, don’t hesitate to find out how you can become a subscriber.
One More Batch O’ Spin
Hopefully everyone had an enjoyable Labor Day full of … laboring or something. Even though the holiday is over, you can still celebrate with two more Spin It Up songs, which are now live and ready for your tender love and spinning.
In this corner, wearing the green tunic, hailing from the land of Hyrule, we have Hyrulian OC Remix, brought to us by the well-known OC-er djpretzel. This snazzy song sports the lost art of the flute solo along with a driving bassline and drums to give the classic Zelda theme an all-new makeover. MixMasterLar supplies the spinfile for the tune, which ranks in at the beginner-friendly difficulty level of 1, so regardless of your Spin skill, be sure to give this enjoyable song and spinfile a shot. His partner, wearing the black trunks with the black trim, we have the bangin’ tune Black Hole, a Spin It Up exclusive song thanks to /DJS\. Jugglinguy provides yet another mind-bending 6-rated file for the Spin It Up pros so be sure to focus or else the challenging Black Hole will swallow your mouse whole.
As Spin It Up picks up some more steam, don’t forget we have a full-featured real-time multiplayer mode for you to try out these new songs with three other players and we’re taking your suggestions and seeking spinfile authors in the Spin It Up forum section. Have fun with the new tunes and look forward to more being implemented in the game this Saturday.
Double the Spin, Double the Fun
To kick off the month, Spin It Up fans should be pleased to know, two new files have been added to the game and levels will once again be added to the game on a regular basis.
Starting today, both {Big Bad Scary Fish-Man} and Bomb the Base are available for play in Spin It Up. If the brackets weren’t enough to clue you in {Big Bad Scary Fish-Man} comes at you courtesy of fan-favorite artist cornandbeans. The dizzying file was designed for us by jugglinguy and can be found in the level 6 difficulties. If a level 6 is too spinny for you, mellow down the difficulty just a little bit with Bomb the Base by Paradise Decay feat. Nina Goddess of Dance. The level 2 file was created by myself in order to test the waters of adding levels to Spin It Up and features mostly straight forward beats with only a few semi-tricky spins. With both files being newly added, you can easily find both songs by going to their respective difficulty sections and clicking the up arrow once.
I have a good handful of spinfiles in waiting to be entered into the game, so with patience, we’ll be catching up on the Spin It Up backlog in no time flat with additions coming at you as soon as early next week. To talk about Spin It Up and find out how to contribute to the game levels, visit the Spin It Up section of our forums. Right now, I am considering Saturdays to be the day of the week I regularly add spinfiles to the game, but that is still in consideration – but know that the game will be receiving the proper update treatment and you’ll be hearing the name Spin It Up a lot more down the road.
