Default Nichijou: My Ordinary Pack (Submissions Open!)

Send submissions to HakaseShinonome@gmail.com

==============

'ey, kjw here. This is actually the 4th pack I'll be in charge of, but the first one I'm actually starting here on FFR.

With the recent Nichijou fad, a few folks and I were discussing what it would be like to have a pack dedicated to the series. And so it begins!

General Guidelines
Your song choice must be one of the following:
1) The opening, ending, or any soundtrack from the show Nichijou, and any of their remixes and covers.
2) Nichijou MADs.
3) Any recording of parts of the show itself. (lol MA files)
If you aren't sure whether or not your song falls into one of these categories, feel free to ask.

Every file will need at least a banner and background. If you can't include graphics for your file, get a Graphic Artist to make one for you.
-(For MADs and show recordings, background videos are encouraged but not necessary)

Multiple difficulties aren't necessary, and solo-only files are fine.

Please send your files in either .zip or .rar format. You may send multiple files in one e-mail, but make sure each file is zipped separately.

==============

Judges

Niala

Graphic Artists (currently looking for)

==============

We are aiming for 25~30 charts for this pack. The cap may be raised depending on submissions.

Have fun stepping!

*Note: pack banner by T-Force. Feel free to PM me with different pack banners you'd like to see be used!

ps all you neighsayers get out

Reviews

Quote:
Nichijou de Chorusmen (Xayphon) [5.2 tps] [7/10]
-For m. 5~28 try using holds only for Hakase's voice (e.g. beat 17, 19, 21, 24, 26, 28, ...)
-Beats 1.00, 1.67, etc. might be fine with jumps
-I don't think hands are really necessary for beat 128, 160, and 176, but if you still want to use them, maybe you can sacrifice a bit of PR so there isn't another hold note right after a hold note ends.
-To tone down a bit more on the number of hold notes, you could try removing the holds for the piano in the second half of the song (beat 115.67, 116.67, etc.) - but it's fine as is.
-Overall nice file on the easier side - no real technical mistakes. :3
-PS - ahhhh ahhhhhhhhh AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I'm Shake Happy (YOSHl) [10.5 tps] [5/10]
-General note for your files: try starting your files at the beginning of a measure. It confuses people less in the editor x3
-Offset should be around -0.018s.
-Missing note at beat 43.50?
-Gunshots (lol) on m. 20 ~ 24 aren't constant 16ths; check it out carefully at a lower rate.
-For m. 29 ~ 37, instead of having holds for the voice, consider putting them for the cymbal crashes (i.e. beats 114, 130, 138, 140, 141, 142, 143, 145)
-Not sure if you need colored notes on m. 46, 68~69.
-Either a jump or a hand on beat 185.50, rather than a quad.
-Try taking out the mines on m. 51 ~ 52 and using 4ths instead.
-At the end, consider 232323 8th patterns (or 323232) for 9 or so notes, instead of having [23] jumps every other 8th. (Having just the two hold notes to end the file is also an option.)
-Song is fun (one of my favorite Nichijou MAD's!) and for the most part, the file is fun as well. Just need a few technical tweaks here and there, and this should be good to go!

Hyadain no Kakakata☆Kataomoi-C (short ver.) (YOSHl) [9.3 tps] [7/10]
-Offset -0.016s-ish.
-Missing jump on beat 23.50.
-16ths on m. 13 are barely audible so I think you can take those out.
-[124] hand for beat 163.00 instead of having a quad, just to keep the flow of the chart.
-If you're layering the vocals, there are missing jumps on beats 164.50 and 166.50. Near the end of the chart, there are other missing jumps like beat 239.50 and 240.00, but you don't have to add those if you think that will mean too many jumps.
-Nice speedup on m. 50, I like!

4.5 (0) [10.7tps] [8/10]
-lol m. 17 ~ 20 awkward, experiment with toning that down a little (!!)
-No major "technical" problems ._.

Zzz (piano cover) (V-Ormix) [6.5tps] [9/10]
-Very nice piano chart you got here :3!
-Could use notes on beats 91, 92, 93. 96.50, 99, 100, 101 for the left hand (unless you want to emphasize the right hand a bit, in which case you don't need to add those)
-Missing notes on beat 218.50 and 219.50?
-The end is technically 28ths rather than 24ths but whatever xD
-No particular mistakes in this - just posting some suggestions. Excellently done!

Reserved for judging etc.

Code:
4.5 - (0)
7/10

This file is essentially fine, the only thing is that giant spasm of arrows starting at measure 17 is much harder than the rest of the file and kind of ruins it. You should consider toning it down.

HYADAIN NO KAKAKATA KATAOMOI - (YOSHl)
6/10

Not bad, actually. Pretty fun but some errors that should get addressed.
-The layering is a bit messy. Take a look at:
-Beat 6.00 has an extra jump,
-Beat 17 has an extra jump (unless you want to layer the snare hits as jumps throughout the entire intro.)
-Beat 18, I feel, should be a single arrow, not a jump, but I can chalk that up to a different stepping style.
-Missed a jump at beat 19.5
-Another missed at 23.5
Now, the vocals section:
-There are lots of, what seem to be, missed jumps in this section.
There might be something I didn't quite get in your layering scheme, but it seems to be straight 8ths with jumps to me, and there are too many missed jumps to list.
-I get the quad, I hate the quad. Try a [124] hand instead (beat 163)
-missing jump at the start of the chorus beat 164.5 and 166.5
-Cute speedup.

Essentially you just have some layering to fix up, as a whole it's not bad.

SHINONOMIN' FEELING - (kjwkjw)
9/10

The only thing I don't really like is that measure 11 to measure 26. It seems sooooo easy compared to the rest of the file, and since it's right at the start it's like saying "this file's gonna be easy LOLJK."
Other than that I have no complaints nice file.

ZZZ - (Ormix)
8/10

Not to be rude, but title kinda explains the file.
Pretty well done, I think you overused quads a bit, your playing with chords and dynamics was a good idea, just took it 1 step too far.
Other than that, we're good to go.

Maybe you can step easier charts? :<

Going to write up reviews tomorrow, probably. Then I won't have time to look at submissions for a couple of weeks due to finals - just a heads-up.

(anything that gets 16-ish or above from the other two judges is probably going to be accepted, so use that as your guide haha)

Yay for posting while in a tent and -somehow- still getting 3 bars on my phone.

Reserved for judgements.

Code:
4.5 (0)
 - How fitting that a song with 2 numbers is stepped by someone with 1.
First look:• Heh, jumpjacks. Seems a tad overlayered, but meh. It still follows the song and the mini-holds were a nice touch. +1 from me for that.
Playtest:• Tricky file, but tis to be expected from 0. Still fun nonetheless.
VERDICT: PASS: 9/10

Hyadain no Kakakata Kataomoi-C (Detrimentalist)
 - Oh great.. 8 submissions and you guys give me 3 versions of this song?! Faaaaaaantastic. And one with 4 charts.. Hoo boy.
First look:
[b]:• Mines... really? Understepped too, but easy difficulty. Can't be helped. Holy rainbow, Batman!
[l]:• Alright, a slightly juiced up version of [b]. No surprises.
[s]:• So we add another slice of layering.
[h]:• THAT'S what I was waiting for. Moderately-heavily layered.
Playtest:
[b]:• Ehh, easy AAA. Can't find a fault. Also, now that I realize what the colour theory is for, tis kinda cool.
[l]:• See [b], save for a tad trickier with a couple more mines and jumps.
[s]:• See [L]. Although, AAA is not so easily obtained.
[h]:• Wow. This is really fun. That rainbow staircase was awesome. I have absolutely no complaints. Maybe a tad heavy on the hands, but meh.
VERDICT: PASS: 10/10

Hyadain no Kakakata Kataomoi-C (YOSHl)
 - Well first things first, the sound quality for this one is TONS worse. Good luck.
First look:• OMG YAY! MOVIE! 8D. And holy crap... this looks like a great file. Who are you and where did you come from?
Playtest:• Holy crap, that was fun. This one I think I liked more than Det's.
• Couple things though: It seems to play a bit early. As well, that mine-cluster-of-hell, at m.50 (beat 196.00) is totally unnecessary.
VERDICT: PASS (with sync fix): 9/10
***Suggestion for kjw: Use Det's .mp3 and banner, but use this background and file as the [Heavy] and Det's [Heavy] to [Oni] and make this a collab.
This file is too good to be replaced.

Hyadain no Kakakata Kataomoi-C (Amber)
 - *sigh* Another 3 difficulties? I'm going to HATE this song... Also, who are you? ?__?
First look:
[s]:• Hrmm... Somewhat inconsistent with your layering. You seem to swap styles midway through parts.
• Also, the first part of the vocals seems to have a few ghost arrows.
I'm probably wrong, but when the only really audible part is the vocals, there's not much else that needs to be stepped. (PS. Hur, hur, AAA'd.)
[h]:• More consistent. +1 for that. However, there's a couple things missing (but I'll probably see them in [Oni]).
[o]:• ... Holy layering... Yet another subscriber to "Step Every Audible Sound".
Playtest:
[s]:• Easy, but it feels like I'm playing to stuff that isn't there.
[h]:• Same as last time. Although now it feels a tad more correct. Maybe it's the layering.
[o]:• Yeah.. the layering kills it. It loses the fun factor once it's just smashing every key. It's alright, but everything doesn't need to be layered.
(NOTE THIS, ALL YOU STEPARTISTS. THIS IS UNNECESSARY!)
VERDICT: NOT ACCEPTED: 6/10

Shinonomin' Feeling (kjwkjw)
 - Oh boy. Another Bloomin' Feeling mix. Why is it there's one of these in your packs recently? Either way, I'm excited.
First look:• That intro sounds familiar. AVGN Techno Mix anyone?
• When it starts getting all mixed and "gabber-esque", it looks well done. Great layering choices.
• Right after though, you start using mini-holds. I'd suggest either making everything little hum like that a mini-hold, or none.
And that includes the 32nd roll of them. Consistency, etc.
• The mines are a nice touch for the screeches. All in all, looks solid.
Playtest:• ...This may be me and my belief that a good song is half of the reason for a fun file, but holy crap. This was so much fun!
VERDICT: PASS: 10/10

ZZZ (ORMIX)
 - Oh boy. Pianerz. This should be interesting.
First look:• Well done. From what I see, it's solid. Starts off easy then throws in another layer.
I think I'm going to feel like a pianist playing this.
Playtest:• Wow. That was excellent. Fun, easy, and enjoyable.
VERDICT: PASS: 10/10

Nichijou de Chorusmen (Xayphon)
 - AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
First look:• Were the hands in the intro really necessary?
• Holy hold-fest.
• Looks alright. It is a jazz MAD so the song isn't much to my liking. Nice mines, by the way.
Playtest:• HAHAHA! Wow, that was insanely humourous. Everything fits. Well, except the intro hands.
• The holds are also a bit overkill. Not everything needs to be one.
The main holds (AKA AHHHH!) are fine as such, but not much else.
VERDICT: PASS: 8/10

I'm So Happy (YOSHl)
 - Just listening to the preview has me intrigued.. but we shall see.
First look:• Yay movie again!
• ... Holy overlayered, Batman...
• The Hakase de Nya part was alright, but maybe turn the bursts into mini-holds?
• All those jumps in the ending don't need to be there. Make them singles, and note the last few are ghosts.
Playtest:• Wow.. just wow. Regarding the Hakase de Nya part, just make the first 2 bursts
(beat 181.5, 183.25) a single, and then the ones in between mines (beat 200, 201.5, 203, 204.5) two singles.
• I do think you did a good job on the principal's part. The chains maybe not, but the layering was good.
• Regarding the intro, subtract one layer for the whole thing.
• When it reaches the "chorus" (m.29) after the first "verse", you switch everything from mini-holds to just taps. Do one or the other. Keep it consistent.
VERDICT: REJECTED: 3/10

EDIT: LMFAO YES! POST 16! Best number ever. 8D
