Replay SUGGESTION (they know about the avmisses replay bug already, thank you)

I'm pretty sure people don't like only being able to save 5 replays. I'm sure that's because of all the space it needs - I'm not suggesting increasing the amount.

How about just making the replays downloadable? Then you'd just have to update the replay engine, which you're already doing anyway, to allow replaying of local data. Or you could of course just update the replay page to accept file uploads, which would then be deleted as soon as the replay engine's downloaded it.

Actually, what I meant was just replay data which the replay engine would then play, so just some random new format then... If you want it to be avi or mpg just get a free desktop recording tool like camstudio and record while the replay engine is playing it.

Hmmm...interesting. This is a really cool idea, no doubt, but I think it may be difficult to implement.

How do you propose to save the files, and then have the replay engine read them? You can't do a cookie file, because there is a lot of cookie/cache clearing associated with this website. Not to mention that most spyware programs target cookies as well.

Temporary internet files suck, and no one wants to fish through that directory...

I'm not the greatest with computers, so I'm curious how this would work.

you'd save it as an actual file to your desktop. then upload the file back to the server to view it. that was my thought. then every day or something, we'd wipe the uploaded files.

You just download the replay data.* When you want to see the replay, you'd go to a file uploading like page where you select the file, then the website will save the file temporarily, then the replay engine would load it, and the temporary file would be deleted.

Or the replay engine would just be updated to query for the replay file you want to see, but I'm not sure that's possible with Flash.

*PS to those who're interested: this is probably what the file type'll look like since this is what the engine uses at the moment:
(L/R/D/U),(time)|(L/R/D/U),(time)|(L/R/D/U),(time)|(L/R/D/U),(time)|...

PS to mods: I couldn't help myself checking it out with a sniffer
