50 Billion Here I come
Alas, 13th is where my journey comes to an end. After about a thousand combined gameplays, I was unable to skillboost with the rest of the pack, which is really what this thread is all about. I've been playing for quite some time now (First game was in May 2009, although the account is older) and everyone else who has played as much as me is PA'ing FMO's by now. With the tourny I passed 9bil GT and almost 23k gameplays and have only a handful of 8's AAA'd. Over my almost three years, I have made several rivalries with other players, but each of them pass me up with equal or lesser practice. I just improve so slowly is discouraging, like I have to fight for every inch, never 'boosting.'
13th is the best I could have done without a skill boost, so gg's all. Only chance I have at vrofl is 50 billion, maybe I'd actually be good by the time I've played that much. Anyone have any advice? |

Play harder songs that what you're used to. You get noticeably better and used to some of the faster/harder patterns to play. Then play every FGO in the game 10 times each every day. Repeat until 50b.
Edit: Play every FMO and FGO 10 times each every day.

Re: 50 Billion Here I come
Go for it! It's inevitable to earn it if you keep playing FFR. (: In my opinion, playing FFR for fun is the best way to win vrofl since you are obtaining the token in a stress-free environment, rather than forcing yourself to play FFR for one billion GT in a day or forcing yourself to beat a certain score in the tournament. There is no need to hurry and get the token since the file is bad as it is. :3

It's not just about the token, I just improve so slowly it's frustrating.

1B in a day is like cheating almost. imo
'cept for the fact that you are really not being respectful to your body by smashing keys for 18 hours. also, you can do it, sax! |

Take it from one of the slowest progressing people on this game.. I've been playing for 8+ years and I still haven't AAAd an FMO yet.. but I keep getting closer which is signs of improvement. So, basically just don't count yourself out on skill. Also, good luck on your journey to 50bil |

Don't give up. As other have said, play songs that you can Barely/Almost FC until you can FC them and move up the ladder. Every once in a while, go back to redo those FC's and you'll notice big skill jumps on them. Participate in every unofficial tournament you can put aside time for.
I know how you feel though, for the longest time i didn't see any improvement whatsoever, but eventually it'll just click for you and you'll find yourself doing amazing things.

Re: 50 Billion Here I come
Look at my stats and feel better about yourself. My first game was about 8 years ago. This is a merged alt with no join date merge. Just play for fun man! 40K games 20 bil points. My PA is not on par for 40K played. Again, Just play for fun and take advantage of any skill boosts you get.

Re: 50 Billion Here I come
I'm also a very slow learner. almost 16k games played. Everyone I end up knowing surpasses me. I STAY in D1 and can't win... haha. It will just take longer I guess, but I feel yah, man.

Re: 50 Billion Here I come
When I played for fun which was right before the official tourney I skill boosted almost every other day without having to whore a song. Randoming 10-11 has some of my fav songs/charts, but once I had to start whoring I kinda got bored of ffr and i'm now on sm.
tl;dr give sm a try and only play ffr for fun, ignore all the competitiveness for now. |

Re: 50 Billion Here I come
Are you me? Lol.
But seriously, don't play to improve. Play songs you enjoy that are just slightly out of your skill level like others have said and eventually you'll get better without having a mental block or stressing over it. And you can't compare yourself with other people. Some people just "get it", some have a better ergonomic setup/keyboard, and some play other rhythm games and then come back to FFR to sandbag all over the tourneys *cough*. I've been playing only FFR off and on for about as long as I've been a member and I can see myself being in or around the same position as you or worse in your situation, so I know that feel, bro. Edit: "Only FFR" meaning no other rhythm games, and "off and on" meaning not playing for months at a time (including when FFR was down for almost a year). Re: 50 Billion Here I come
The best way of getting better in my opinion is to challenge yourself each day. Do something you don't normally do, and try to excel in whatever you're trying to do. At first you may not be getting the results you don't want, but perseverance is definitely the key. Striving to better your overall skill will take you far in FFR and SM. Not just on a individual song.
