I've been tossing this idea in my head for about a year now, and I think it's worth pursuing. The SM community and the 6key community is in particular need of this sort of thing.
THE NAME Notice how I said "anthology", not "pack". There's a distinction: a pack is a collection; a mix. This isn't a mix because we will step every song that appears in the Chrono Trigger SNES game. SONGS To give you an idea of what you'll be working with, here's the Chrono Trigger OST. Make sure you use these mp3s. This will total 55 songs, so if 18 people are involved that's roughly an average of 3 files per person, and the count goes down as more people are involved. (See Songs Part II for more info.) GRAPHICS All of the backgrounds will be stylized screenshots from the game, as will the banners. CHART REQUIREMENTS All of the songs are going to be 6key. The community, I feel, has enough 6key charters for this and I don't feel it's necessary to include 4key anymore. You can step 4key and release it separately, as I've done with my Magus file, but I'm going to manually remove all 4key charts in each .sm upon release of the anthology. Yes, including my own 4key charts. If, on the off chance you have made a 6key chart to some song from the Chrono Trigger soundtrack elsewhere, you can use that here. If, on the off chance you've found a chart of some song from the Chrono Trigger OST (be it a BMS, 4key chart, whatever) and would like to use that as your "base" for a 6key chart, you are allowed to do that. DIFFICULTY REQUIREMENTS All charts must have: 1. A "really easy" difficulty (light), which is as easy as Ice Frontier (18) on the current KBO difficulty scale or easier. Think a lot of 4ths with some 8ths thrown in. 2. An "easy to intermediate" difficulty (standard), which is somewhere between Brightone (22) and Math Party (26) on the current KBO difficulty scale as I type this. Think a lot of 8ths and some 16ths. 3. An "intermediate to advanced" difficulty (heavy), which can be anywhere from Math Party hard up to the 42s on KBO. It can't be as hard as Protosphere or Planetz, though. (optional) An "advanced" difficulty (challenge) for players like leonid/LongGone. This can be as hard as Protosphere or harder. If it's obviously a joke, though, I reserve the right to throw it out. SONGS PART II We are skipping six songs because they aren't really songs; they're sounds that play during the game. The songs, as they are listed in the OST, are as follows: 10 - Goodnight (0:08), 14 - Huh (0:05), 16 - A Prayer to the Road that Leads (0:11), 25 - Mystery of the Past (0:06), 35 - Fanfare 2 (0:07), 38 - Fanfare 3 (0:05). We are also skipping two unreleased songs because this anthology is restricted to songs that actually appear in the game: 48 - Singing Mountain and 34 - Battle 2. Although these have value to hardcore fans, the goal of this anthology is to give people an "oh, I remember that song!" feeling when they play the charts. That's simply not possible with unreleased songs. Two songs are being combined into one. These are 45 - Castle and 46 - Confusing Melody. This is because Castle, in the game, was a natural lead-in to Confusing Melody, and Castle by itself is only 25 seconds long. CUTTING SONGS Because of the highly repetitive nature of Chrono Trigger songs, and because a number of songs in the OST run for three and sometimes five minutes, all songs 3:00 or over will be cut unless you specify that you'd like to do the whole song uncut. Your cuts must be at least 1:15, but the ideal range should be 1:30 to 2:15. If you don't know how to cut a song using Audacity, I can do it for you. NAMING CONVENTIONS The in-game referent for the song will be used first because that is the most familiar, and the proper name listed on chrono.wikia.com will be used as subtitles or failing a familiar name. For example, Fanfare 1 is also called Lucca's Theme. Obviously, Lucca's Theme is more recognizable, so we're going with that. For the time being, you may use any name you want as a placeholder. But since this will obviously affect the backgrounds/banners, don't get too attached to the name if the song has gone by multiple titles. (e.g. "Time Circuits", as it is listed elsewhere, will be called "Kingdom of Zeal" with the subtitle "(Corridor of Time)" instead.) JUDGING I am the sole judge here for two reasons: (1) from my experience having a judging panel increases the time by several months, and I can judge every file in less than a day (2) judging isn't that important anyway, I just need to make sure every file isn't an obvious joke. The judging here will be lenient. I cannot stress this enough. I know you're used to thinking that you need to be ultra-perfectionist, but when I am the judge that's simply not the case. If you submit AT ALL and just vaguely follow the light, standard, heavy difficulty guidelines, it is extremely likely your file will be accepted. SONG LIST (55 total) This list serves as a sign up sheet and lets you know who is stepping what, e.g. "Battle with Magus [Arch0wl]". Second, it lets you know what the corresponding OST number is so you have no problem finding it in the megaupload link. 1 - A Premonition 2 - Chrono Trigger 3 - Morning Sunlight 4 - Peaceful Days 5 - Memories of Green 6 - Guardia Millenial Fair 7 - Gato's Song 8 - A Strange Happening 9 - Wind Scene 11 - Secret of the Forest 12 - Battle 13 - Guardia Castle - Pride and Courage 15 - Manoria Cathedral 17 - Silent Light 18 - Boss Battle 1 [XxMidigamixX] 19 - Frog's Theme [XxMidigamixX] 20 - Fanfare 1 (Lucca's Theme) 21 - The Trial 22 - The Hidden Truth 23 - A Shot of Crisis 24 - Ruined World 26 - Ruin 27 - People Without a Hope 28 - Lavos's Theme 29 - The Day the World Revived 30 - Robo Gang Johnny 31 - Bike Chase 32 - Robo's Theme 33 - Remains of Factory 36 - The Brink of Time 37 - Delightful Spekkio 39 - Underground Sewer 40 - Boss Battle 2 [XxMidigamixX] 41 - Primitive Mountain 42 - Ayla's Theme 43 - Rhythm of Wind, Sky and Earth 44 - Burn! Bobonga! 45 - Castle / Confusing Melody [Arch0wl] 47 - Battle with Magus [Arch0wl] 49 - Tyran Castle 50 - At the Bottom of Night 51 - Corridors of Time, aka Time Circuits [Arch0wl] 52 - Zeal Palace [Arch0wl] 53 - Schala's Theme [glirandly] 54 - Sealed Door 55 - Undersea Palace 56 - Chrono and Marle ~Far Off Promise~ [SkRAWRk] 57 - Silvard (Epoch) ~Wings That Cross 58 - Black Dream (aka Black Omen) [SkRAWRk] 59 - Determination 60 - World Revolution [Arch0wl] 61 - Last Battle [SkRAWRk] 62 - First Festival of Stars 63 - Epilogue - To Good Friends 64 - To Far Away Times DEADLINES The deadline here is "once we reach all 55 songs stepped." Most packs have deadlines because there is no song limit. That's not the case here -- we have a finite number of songs and a finite number of spots. Once that's done, the anthology is done. COORDINATION This may be posted on FFR, but we will (if I can get Sprite's permission) use a secret forum on keybeatonline.com to coordinate the pack. All that's required is that you commit to doing a single song and I can give you access, provided you give me your KBO account name. Last edited by Arch0wl; 08-4-2011 at 05:49 AM.. |

Do you remember the People Who Haven't Stepped 6key pack? It was a simfile tournament for people who had NEVER STEPPED 6KEY BEFORE.
Well, here's what's relevant: if those people submitted the charts they made to me, I would have accepted 22 out of the 23 submitted files. That's a 95.6% acceptance rate. Give it a shot anyway. Last edited by Arch0wl; 07-23-2011 at 03:09 AM.. |

Holy crap, I love Chrono Trigger and I'd like to start stepping 6 key, so count me in!
If it's no hassle, can I reserve songs 56, 58 and 61? I'll get right to them after finishing up my batch submissions. ![]()

I was thinking of doing Frog's Theme. And since I have Frog's Theme from VGMP2 (And Robo's theme from either VGMP1 or 2...), might as well use that as a skeleton and step the solo chart of it. So dibs on Frog's theme.
Also dibs on 18 and 40. |

Added! Spots are filling up quicker than I thought they would.
I'll have .rar of all the songs for this up soon. The current links aren't reliable, so this should fix that. |

You can start stepping these without needing my cuts; the way I'm cutting these shouldn't affect your files, because the songs usually repeat twice and I'm just cutting them to repeat once.
That said, I'm about 1/3 done with the cuts. |

email. just send them to keybeatbeginner@yahoo.com
But make sure they're matched up with the mp3s here: http://www.sendspace.com/file/ek16xg Those are the mp3s I'm using for the pack. I'm almost done with all the cuts, but it's taking way longer than I thought. |
