Hello, I've just set up a new computer, and I have the intention of getting some PC games.
Anything horror related (that can give genuine scares, I guess - something like Amnesia: The Dark Descent) or fantasy - something that generally is addicting, I guess. I have the intention of getting Amnesia and a game called The Witcher (any opinions on this game would be great - is it any good or is it terrible?). Any suggestions are welcome, though. I'll end up looking into them all anyway. Thanks. ![]() |

LoL/HoN (Casual vs. Hardcore, take your pick)
TF2 Touhou games ^What I play. I've heard very mixed reviews for The Witcher. It's a love/hate thing.

Bioshock 1 and 2. Bioshock 1 occasionally goes on sale on steam, last few times it was $5 US I think. Bioshock 2 is due for a sale too. I expect one either during a Steam Summer sale, or this Fall at the latest (I am pretty sure BS2 hasn't been put on sale yet, anyway).
Metro 2033 - If your rig is good enough (meaning High End), this might be a game to get. It has a pretty dark style, like you like. It's a linear First Person Shooter with no online, so it's up to you if it matches your style. Oblivion - The game to get if you like a "Do whatever" style of game. You can get tons of usermods on it to make it a whole new game if you like. Even without the graphical overhaul mods, it still looks significantly more pretty than the console versions. If you get Steam, you might want to pre-order Portal 2. It'll net you a free copy of Portal 1, which is is a nice bonus. There is a Portal 1 demo available, so download that and see how you like it. If you enjoy it, then go ahead and pre-order Portal 2! Other games you might want to check out: Burnout: Paradise Ultimate Box - Lacks the non-free DLC, but it is well optimized for PC rigs and looks gorgeous. If you can find it on sale, you can get it for as low as $5 (totally worth it even if you've beaten a console version) Crysis/Warhead - Must-haves for anyone with a high-end rig. It's just a PC gamer thing XD If you like it, get Crysis 2 pre-ordered (Comes out on the 22nd). There is a multiplayer demo of Crysis 2 as well. What're your system specs Mechablob? It'll be really helpful in determining what you can run.

Nothing.

Just Cause 2
This was suggested to me recently, and I've had more fun with this game than any other. |

@OP: Nearly every game in this thread (Bioshock 2 is the exception, and really only because the prequel is so much better in comparison) is a really good choice so you're pretty much set after all these listposts.

Doom 3 is a really good game and an extremely engaging single player.
Quake 4 also probably has some of what you are looking for there. The game I suggest most though is StarCraft 2. Best RTS game in the world, and if RTS isn't your thing, it has great custom games of every genre (even FPS and TPS) with more to come! |
