Stacker The Arcade Game
So I was at an arcade yesterday, and they had one of the big stacker machines. I tried it once and got to the major prize level (the final stack) and lost. I told myself I could beat it so I tried about 6 more times (getting on the major prize level 4 out of the 7) and lost, getting one column off every time.
If you've never seen/played the stacker, here's gameplay I believe/heard that the game is actually rigged, as in the game plays like a slot machine, having a 1 in 600 chance of actually achieving the winning stack (so even if you had the most accurate button press on the major prize level, you can still lose). The owners/renters of the machine can also tweak the settings to make the winning ratio higher or lower. Have you ever conquered the Stacker? Do you think it is rigged? Re: Stacker The Arcade Game
played it before and it could be rigged but ive heard people say that you can still get the prize if you stack it to the left or right side.

Re: Stacker The Arcade Game
I work as the game tech at place with the giant one, and yes.
It's rigged. Congratz. You have like a 1-10,000 shot in getting the top row. Basically how it works is it resets after every win, making it EXTREMELY difficult to win again, and it gets slowly easier as more and more people lose.

^ I thought so..
Well at the arcade I go to, when they want everyone to get out (as in the place closes) they shut off all of the machines. Does that mean the difficulty resets, so it would be smarter to play the game at night? |

Not that I care, I usually lose by the sixth row. Crap timing ftw.

Re: Stacker The Arcade Game
It's not really like it's rigged, it's more like it's programmed so that it won't dispense the Mayor Prize until a certain ammount of money is collected first, so you can get up to the last row every time you play but if the quote has not been met the game will force you to fail.

Like I said, it just gets progressively easier. And when I say easier I mean 1/10,000 easier. And when the price at my place is $2 a pop, its a money maker.

Re: Stacker The Arcade Game
The game is in fact rigged. Depending on how good the prizes are, the game is set to allow a major prize 1 every X attempts. However, you still need to be good enough to win on that 1 available time.
Also, many of you may not know that the last 3 lines are the same exact speed.

Re: Stacker The Arcade Game
Its actually pretty easy to win one of these...pretty sure its not rigged seeing how my bro-in-law is the manager of an arcade. I have won more than once, but i dunno maybe i just get lucky? Not really that hard if you're fast. lol

Re: Stacker The Arcade Game
Yeah it's rigged. Don't play the arcade game where you have to cut the string and it drops the prize either.

Re: Stacker The Arcade Game
Yeah, I was about to say "it's a famously rigged game" before I read the rest of the OP and got uberninja'd by every other post in this thread.
I also hate those claw games. Totally worthless. |

Re: Stacker The Arcade Game
Stacker has a surprisingly decent win ratio for an arcade game. It's rigged, but the odds are not horrible to win and you are bound to win if you're consistent enough (and willing to dish out a little bit of money). I was literally in the bowling alley that had the Stacker game in the arcade I played ITG, and they won an iPod. Needless to say, I was pretty pissed that it chose then to pay out, considering I'm always able to make it to the 2nd to last line.

Friends dad is a tech for one of these. Rigged it is, and it's worse than 1:600.
