As a side note, in theory, remixes are generally safe (fair use) but they tend to fall in a grey zone. Excerpt taken from wikipedia : "Unfortunately, there are no distinct lines between copyright infringement and abiding by fair use regulations while producing a remix.[9] However, if the work that is distributed by the remixer is an entirely new and transformative work that is not for profit, copyright laws are not breached. The key word in such considerations is transformative, as the remix product must have been either sufficiently altered or clearly used for a sufficiently different purpose for it to be safe from copyright violation." I'm an idiot and just read through permission issue artists to make sure mine weren't any of those and realized one was. Here's the ss of the email confirming use of two Robotboy's songs - it is limited, not blanket.

edit: for the record, I did send a follow-up email to her about which track was chosen for #1, and that we would let her know when #2 was chosen and introduced into the game. Sent a gameplay video of the song in-game too, after it made it in.

Why isn't this shit automated
Why isn't there a contract page where artists can digitally sign, define their conditions if there are any, and then the permission is automatically added to a database like the wiki



Oh because Synthlight can't actually be bothered to do legal for this site, that's why

While I agree having such a thing would be helpful, I don't think it would immensely help the process too much.

there are a lot of permissions that either haven't been touched or haven't been used to anywhere near their full extent yet so farming more isn't particularly useful
permissions would only help if they were for something particularly well-known but i feel like most people here don't actually know what that is

I have successfully obtained blanket permission from YZYX (provided you notify them every time there's a new release)!



WARNING: There's a common misconception that YZYX is one of Reizoko Cj's aliases. It isn't. All of the bonus/featured tracks on Reizoko Cj's Dark Side album are mistagged.
