Just because they've never done it before. |

And really, it's not a horrible director (or anything) "butchering" a game, it's just that games and movies don't mix. Movies are like games with tons of triggers that lead the action or lots of confusion as some plot points aren't told. People tend to hate games with tons of triggers and confusion about where to go, so movie-based games suck a lot of the time. In that same aspect, some of the best games are mindless or allow quite a bit of freedom, or the plot is very silly/nonexistant. Also, games (especially ones that DO have plots) tend to be MUCH LONGER than movies, so (like books) movies leave out details that make true fans of a series upset. Really, I think the only games that could possibly have a good transition to film would be those that are aimed at being very cenimatic. Like, Shadow of the Collusus. It's all about some movie-like moments while you're playing, and it's fairly interesting just to watch it. Only problem is they'd have to change some things, like adding other people into the world, cuz just 1 dude running around would get boring. The later GTAs get more and more story based (yes, if you actually play them, there IS a storyline. It even has some twists and turns! AMAZING =O!) and could be the premise of a gangster movie. Hell, since they aren't all really connected, the movie could contain references to other GTAs but not confuse non-gamers who have no idea about the other games. Uhoh I mentioned GTA, I'ma get pounced by closed-minded kids. =X

So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright. And I write the blog for their website. Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =O |

Also, there's at least 2 or 3 anime series based off of MegaTen games. And a manga based off of Maken X. They're all hilariously bad though. And Digital Devil Monogatari, the original MegaTen game, was based on a novel.

I think the GTA serious would translate very well into a movie.

They should make Diablo I into a movie. Without butchering it and making it awesome.

They should make a Devil May Cry movie because hearing corny one-liners never gets old. Ever.

I guess Soul Calibur could be interesting if they had a good plot(as in they just picked one for the movie) to put in it.

I'd say a gamer who has played the game and has some decent experience in directing a movie should do it instead. Too bad it will never happen |

EB, watching the Harry Potter movies made me want to read the books.
Good waste of time at work. I think several games could effectively become movies if they were ADAPTATIONS, not the game's story. Repeating what gamers already know about a game series isn't very exciting. They should consult with the original creators of the game and work out a script first. Not make one themselves. ~Squeek |

star fox should definitely be a movie. Just one though. No sequels.

![]() The Street Fighter anime was pretty good. As a general rule, though, most movie or series adaptations for any game simply don't work.

The Metal Gear Solid games would probably make okay
movies, seeing as how they're so cinematic already. And I would love to see a Shadow of the Colossus movie wuth just the main character running around for twp and a half hours stabbing monsters in the ass.
