thanks everyone. also, I have since decided that I'm only going to accept unreleased stepfiles. between this and other forums, I think we'll have more than enough orginal submissions to make a good sized pack.

Good. That was the only thing which sounded a bit bad

I've got a Black Label Society Song, Stillborn, that I'll submit soon. I've got the foundations down but there's a few spots I need to fine-tune (the guitar solo's a bitch).

There actually aren't many power metal sims out there; kamelot/rhapsody are basically epic metal, dragonforce is closer to power, but it's more based on speed and less on crazy vocals (like how bruce dickinson of iron maiden can sometimes sound). as far as guitar goes, the problem with the slew of metal sims that came out is that they didn't focus on the guitar; e.g. herman li's playing is pretty intense on the DF, but nobody really stepped accordingly, the focus was percussion, because it was a guaranteed steady beat at a high BPM, analogous to a sharpnel file.

also, protest the hero is way too chaotic to step, like between the buried and me (i have tried...plus, BTBAM = talented guys, but songwriters they are not...they shouldn't play metal, but anyway). I saw PTH live, they were...well, ****, but guitars aren't really a big focus in that band. something guitar-heavy like psyopus could work, but, there's another ridiculous band for you.

i would recommend that people look into the drummania/guitarfreaks series; there's some really great guitar playing on those soundtracks, and i have all of them if you can think of a song but don't know how to get it.

just my two cents or so.

i think there is something all of you must keep in mind. syncing a non-electronic song coluld lead to use small bpm changes to mantain the sync. so don't expect to calculate an unique bpm and going on. this will be difficult to unexperienced sim authors, but has to be done.

the name is a joke. Snowcrafta nailed exactly what I meant by the name.

as for PTH being too chaotic to step... I WHOLEHEARTEDLY disagree. are we forgetting songs like Warez, Please Listen, and pretty much any other retartedly clicky electronic song? they're crazy choatic. sure, PTH and other bands will have a harder time syncing BPM than those songs listed, but far from impossible. I'm not saying PTH would be easy to step. in fact, they'd be a pain in the ass. I'm hoping there's at least one kickass stepper who's up to the challenge of taking on a PTH song. someone with a WILD ability to sync. like Blurk! Blurk could step a PTH file. after seeing Flashman, the dude could step anything.

and lastly, although off topic, please refrain from referring to PTH as **** in any respect, while in my thread. I have seen them live as well, long before they had a contract and a video. they played my town regularly, and they're excellent live. you must have caught them on a bad day.

that is all.

also, OP updated.

Is electronica acceptable (obviously it has guiatar)... right now I'm thinking 2rock by Vospi, but there's a few other songs I have that fall into that category. Pretty much I'm not experienced enough to sync an unfixed song, and even with a fixed bpm, the file might still suck. So, just checking to see if that's ok.

Zagh. I love you.

as for electronica, you're gonna have to send me an mp3 of the song you wanna do. I may allow it, but I'll still wanna sample it.

you helped your case by mentioning vospi. after seeing his work though, I think I might prefer vospi stepping his own songs. but, you're welcome to give it a shot if he's cool with it.

I'll step it just for the experience, and if Vospi wants to step it, more power to him. I'd love to see more work out of him. Pretty much I'm doing this for experience (cause I have none). If what I do turns out good, I'll submit it.

sure thing. the only thing I request is you shorten it. One is pointlessly long as a stepfile. just cut out some verses or whatever.
