I do feel like Subaru seems genuinely incredulous at my accusation which seems like more of a good sign than not. I feel like his engagement level is kind of out of his normal range for either side though to be honest so it is hard for me to want to attach a motivation to it yet.

Nice to meet you. Your name reminds me of a friend I use to have on my site named star-frost so in my head you are Star Frost. I came to support a friend I made in the MU game I played. I mostly played on my home site before going as an experiment to champs at MU. We are a super small mafia/wolf group who plays. We don’t use any of the common terminology it seems like everyone else uses but I have learned some now. Hope for a chill game (because of my current workplace drama irl) but I do love the part of investigating and pushing people for reactions to see if they are lying. I see the convo about voting inactives and I see that happen almost always on D1 but my opinion on this after watching it happen so many times is that people who aren’t around can’t defend? And even weak defenses seem to be ok at start. So it wouldn’t take much for someone to start a train on an inactive. And town not going to stand up for town but mafia will stand up for their people. So if the inactive is town they always get lynched.

It’s actually kind of cool that talking about it I met a lawyer who gave me advice through MU on what to do. Mafia game international fam at this point. We are like the masons of the internet.

If anyone wants to play on another site, I have a game that’s going to be fab next month on Mangahelpers. It’s James Bond theme and making a very spy based mechanic where you start the game rescuing an innocent child from the evil host (me). And you get Q branch gadgets. Sorry for the promo. still waiting on that 24 hour mark before I grill the inactives and then move on to other things

I still am not a fan of d0 since it's all vibes and whatnot, especially in a mystery game
I know it's pretty vanilla per the OP, but I think we should play standard and vote someone out day 1
maybe we should vote out the loser of the art contest

Not a fan of lynches at game start but the first day is always super informative as people are really organic in their interactions before the newness wears off. The later phases people get their personas adjusted

I actually going to have to reread the rules here to make sure it’s the same as I’m use to. 😂

Haha nice, a sort of alter ego. This is a pretty old internet community so there is some unique terminology I think mixed with some of the usual. You will probably notice that from reading the rules too. Hmmm, about me? I sometimes ask a lot of questions hoping that that little bit more detail gets me closer to what the mind frame was. I think I am a bit more competitive and serious than some others, but not really in a domineering way, I do not think.

This is what I would notice with Town of Salem actually, is anybody who a train actually gets going quickly on is not very likely to be mafia. I think in a game like this, part of what makes the analysis so interesting is the exceptions that can arise. The way the mafia are biased by knowing who is mafia, influences their decision making about how much they can get away with defending the other mafia.

Honestly I never really thought about it from this perspective at all. I do not myself feel organic on d0 and so I do not think to look at that in others. However, I must be extra organic right now, because I am half asleep.

I had brought up the possibility of us coming up with an immunity challenge as a conversation topic (not sure if you are familiar with survivor or not; somebody can explain more if you are not.) roundbox suggested we have an art contest.

Hi box, I plan to make it a point to talk directly to you more this game and maybe build up a rapport for solving the game together, or at the very least get a good read on you earlier than normal. I will try to provide Zapruder film level coverage on your more important looking posts and talking points as well.

In the long time between games I was reading some of my old games where I played with you and it was quite frankly embarrassing, I'd usually spend a lot of time talking past you or not fully reading your posts. The most egregious one was 3rd FE Mystery game where you spent hours trying to solve it and I just tanked it to get revenge on some inactives. That caused me physical pain to read

The vote doesn't mean anything it's just to bring attention to this post.

There's some nuance here that I feel needs to be said. While I've come around from the old days where I just wanted to wholesale toss inactives out early, I feel there needs to be some pressure or threat to draw some of them in.

Yes there are people who are genuinely afk for one reason or another and nothing will change that, but I feel the threat of accumulating votes is needed to keep low activity players who arnt helping solve the game in line, or give them something to respond to (people who don't feel like they have anything to say can usually at least respond defensively to a direct attack or vote). If you take that off the table you could potentially have a bunch of people just not do anything, the high post high effort players cannibalize themselves and it just becomes a dead game where wolves coasting to victory or dying becomes more of a matter of luck. It's a balancing act to maintain, I feel like you also understand this and it will be interesting to see how you put this principle into practice, I will definitely be bringing it up when if or when its relevant come eod.

I multi quoted this, but this feeds back into the previous post. I guess I'll add a few more of my thoughts. If you gave me a gun and told me to shoot anyone alive right now, I think I would never hit someone with 0 posts. Someone who is inactive can always come back, but killing someone freezes their content and people's reactions to it. Even if it feels bad to do like I was saying before, I think you go after people you are either suspicious of or have a lot of interactions with. The trap is it feels like a "waste" to kill someone who is active when inactives are standing right beside them, but the worst case for game health is locking in a kill on a 0 content player and losing a chance to make a kill that can lead to connections and possibly a wolf kill later even if it ends up being a miss. The voting process is also a trove of information that gets wasted when people just park votes on inactives where they don't have to defend their votes because it's seen as "common sense."

I guess I'm still trying to come to grips with where i stand on it atm in a stream of consciousness style. I think I'm mostly on the side of Roundbox in this one.

Just a reiteration of what he said before, I think Roundbox is also trying to find the correct nuance on how to approach this issue. There needs to be some pressure, but it can't be a free ticket for people to just coast on d0 and not have to think or defend their choice of vote.

Inactives would be people who make maybe 0-2 posts and disappear. Mostly we consider it people that don't make the post count minimum for the phase, which is 5 in our case

Otherwise, there's not much to catch up on. It's just d0 stupid banter and randomly landing on someone to vote out

I wouldn't call it sucking up, just noticing a common mistake I make and seeing what happens if I go to an extreme in the other direction.

If anything I expected suspicious or annoyance, I think if Roundbox was a wolf the last thing he'd want is someone analyzing every post her makes.

I want some real time interaction with Roundbox at some point this phase, atm despite his talk it seems like he has settled on an if/then method for his vote (IF 24h pass THEN vote X) which seems lacking after all the buildup and talking about alternatives to the FFR norm when it comes to inactives, so I want answers to that and just a general discussion.

But I am awake at work and it's going on 1am PST. Sooo yeah that's kind of messed up
