I think at least part of it is to get new players occasionally; if it requires a bunch of extra steps, new people are less likely to play. I actually collapsed the FFR tab as I usually don’t read those threads myself, but I realize this might not be a viable option for all boards classed under “gaming.” I also don’t read sports but what I usually do is just, get this, ignore it and not click it.

Maybe try not clicking it instead of expecting an entire subset to move to seclusion for you.
