do those of you who are new know what xiz means where he says the game is a bit of a bastard game / has bastard mechanics

because if you don't this is something you really need to know

Bastard roles are generally roles that unusual in their mechanics and are generally non standard roles, and not neccesarily balanced. IMO they are a lot more fun than stadard roles, but can be pretty jank at times.

I was kind of hoping sunfan would pop in and explain it

but I know it well enough that it's something someone like shadow wouldn't quite know and it greatly affects how you approach the game

that said storn effectively summed up what I'd have said. Emphasis though on the fact they are generally not balanced and that you can literally get set against the most over powered role ever

I explained it last night

its any role that directly interferes with town's ability to solve, or with wolves ability to like
be wolves (something like telling them that their factional nightkill is normal when in actuality, its always going to fail or something)

OR

anytime the moderator directly lies to a player or players (such as saying that someone's role was the seer when in actuality, they were the master wolf or something)

reviving players
players surviving the lynch
roles that cannot be killed in any way at any point
roles that flip as something other than what they actually are
roles/mechanics/bullshit that changes someone's alignment (but not necessarily their role)

all of these are bastard
there's an endless list, you kinda just know bastard when you see it

I can't claim to know what bastard mechanics are in this game, but for reference during a previous game, all living players had to play a day phase on a single account (Legit Doctor)

a pretty crazy example of a bastard mechanic
