in an effort to actually understand things, why is this a good move mechanically? wouldn't it be smarter to just stay quiet about being bulletproof bg? i don't get it

I put a great deal of thought about it. Staying quiet about it I think will only cause more problems as the game progresses, not to mention staying quiet about it and if I do end up using my power would make me dying give absolutely nothing to town.

It's better like this I think. I think in this game, I was suppose to claim first thing rather than hang on to it in other setups. And because it's bulletproof, I don't have to worry about being offed early on and I can let everyone know if I'm going to use my power IF IT COMES TO THAT AND IT'S NOT THE SCENARIO I POSTED IN THE BEGINNING.

That and now I'm free to hunt and be the bird fuck everyone loves about me (or not, HEE HEE HEE).

And by causing problems, I mean if I say what I am in a later phase and not this phase, then I'm more susceptible of being misinterpreted as a SK (or wolf I guess, lol) because it would be something the SK would do to stay alive (as inDheart so much explained).

I must stress that if I were the SK at the moment, I'm literally taking a 50/50 crap shoot, which is really stupid to imo. I'm not here trying to lose already, I'm here to win with the winning team, bitches.

Intresting choice for charu to out himself. I'm inclined to believe him, because the payoff for the gambit coming from the perspective of sk or wolf is too low considering the risks.

Sk: you draw massive amounts of undesired attention for a crapshoot chance at living a few extra days. If at any time the wolf team decides to test your claim, the vigi (if we have one) decides to test your claim, or the real bodyguard/asceticizer dies and flips or counterclaims, your donezo. For a role that needs to live as long as possible, this is almost the antithesis of optimal play. Even if you live a few days it's not a matter of if we revisit and lynch you, it's when.

Wolf: much the same logic applies: lots of ways this could go wrong for you, no real benefit other than a few days of extra life you would have probably gained anyways from good play.

I'm not even going to theorize about charu being green or another power role cause thats dumb

As for the benefits of charu outing himself first thing assuming he's not lying? Not really sure there's too many. If he dies at night we'll know why I guess, but at the same time he won't get wasted night kills on him that he would've gotten otherwise. Unless they pull some WIFOM stuff and do it anyways. I guess the biggest benefit is d0 discussions now have a vector to travel along because this is such a big reveal so early in the game.

Sorry if this is unorganized, just unburdening my thoughts now that I'm finally home from work. Hopefully someone more savvy than me can tell us what this all means mechanically.

Logically speaking, if he's the SK or wolf, the real Bullet-proof Bodyguard or Asceticizer should counterclaim eventually? Wouldn't that completely break his game?
