Should the FFR Official Tournament Only Use New Files?

Yeah pretty much. I mean I really want it in the summer because that always gets the best participation rate and is better for most users in terms of timing. But I didn't want to just go ahead and throw in old files to do it without bringing it up and discussing it first.
I'm just really hoping I don't have to hold off until late fall or winter. There's 195 files in queue total right now from what I saw in the queue batch thread which when you figure how many will actually get accepted isn't very much. I had no idea how low it had been for the last month, only 20 submissions.

If this month simfile authors start thinking in terms of the tournament and get files in that would fit some of those odd slots I'm hoping that maybe I can shoot for August for the tournament.

I don't know, I'll keep you all posted on what's going on. It's a little all over the place right now. I believe silvuh said he'd do group 1 as well on the oldest batch which would give us the 4 we need. I'm going to do as many as I can of the 195 and have one other that is going to as well. Not sure if Nathan was intending on doing the same. If he is then we might be able to bang these out somewhat quickly because we could do a 3 judge rating type deal and then have like silvuh or doss look over files where there's any major score differences kind of thing.

I'm rambling now, I'll shut up lol.
