Turning a new leaf
Greetings fellow keymashers,
My name is David, I'm a 19 year old paramedic student residing in Chattanooga, TN. For the last seven years, between schooling and rock climbing, FFR has been my go-to means of entertainment. I love this game, I don't know what I'd do without it. Seven years is a long time, especially for someone as young as myself; you could say I grew up playing this game. Throughout my FFR career I have grown and changed as a person. I've made many mistakes, and learned from them, as any person should. However, through the years one mistake has lingered on, haunting me to this day. When I was a young boy, I decided "Slipknotdancer" would make a great username for my FFR profile. I was very mistaken. Not only have I grown to hate the band, but I've grown to hate logging in to the website. I am terrified of the prospect that I may have to explain to my future children that their father plays FFR under the alias "slipknotdancer". It is by far the most cringe inducing username on this website, I'm sorry I even typed it out for you to read. I've tried to fix this problem. The FAQ section of the website mentions changing usernames briefly, stating that it can be done, but only very rarely. I tried contacting the website's administrators to no avail. Is there anyone reading this with enough influence to, as they say, help a brother out? Cheers

Re: Turning a new leaf
nah i've had way more cringe names
they rarely change names but posting on the forums is a better way to appeal to them i guess, and you have a pretty personal reason too so good luck with your name change |

I would have chosen a better title to make sure that the Admin/Mods would be drawn to your request. Anyways, I hope they can do this for you!

Re: Turning a new leaf
Usernames cannot be changed, aside from capitalization which does not alter how your username and user id are connected on all aspects of the website, forums, and game.

Re: Turning a new leaf
Your name is honestly not all that bad. I'm not aware of any name changes for as long as I've been here, I'm under the impression that they simply don't happen.
The general trend is that you can make a new account and request that certain aspects from your old account be transferred to it such as your forum veteran status - this excludes things like highscores though.

Do you work as an EMT for any particular service? Just curious to know.

Nah, working in an ER at the moment. Opted to go straight through to medic; most services in my area don't let you work in the truck until you're 21

Re: Turning a new leaf
you're pretty unknown so I'd recommend making a completely new account, move credits to the new one and leave the old one behind
if people ask how long you've been on the site, link them to your old account and tell them something like "dumb name etc" |

Re: Turning a new leaf
Especially if you get vet status moved over, starting from scratch wouldn't be too bad. You'd get better from trying to get good scores again on your favorite charts. The only reason I wouldn't want a new username is because of all the shitty charts I've AAA'd that I'd never want to play again (like most of the >40 difficulty rock/legacy genres).

Re: Turning a new leaf
A little more inspiring considering this is coming from the second most active poster in the history of this site, who has quite successfully changed his name on FFR

Re: Turning a new leaf
Welcome back regardless.
Really what it comes down to is whether you like your scores or not. That is the biggest loss by creating a new account and just building back up, as a lot of the rest can be transferred.

Re: Turning a new leaf
Welcome back. Dunno if you've read this yet, but most players use a standalone player to have fun breaking their keyboard. You should too.
also when I transferred my vet status I was allowed to keep my old account (scores got wiped) but I still have the tokens on them. A small price for a slightly better username. o you |
