I have my moments I'd prefer to be alone, but most of the time I do go out with someone. Before I got rid of my computer, I had a really hard time being social with people unless I was drinking.
Ever since I made a conscious effort to do that, my life has been much better. People may not always talk about what you want to hear, but you can usually find something interesting if you keep your doors open.

You can always try to start out small. Try hanging out with people who are friends with your friends. You can always expand on that.

Becoming quite anti social since I turned 17 (turning 20 in march) I've been living on my own and the only real interaction I've had over the years is with my sister, mother and 1-2 close friends.
Other then that I never go outside and I don't particularly want to make any new friends irl but w/e My online life is pretty much the only place I associate with people anymore. I rarely leave my house, only for maybe 2-3 days for groceries,bills/rent and if I end up leaving my place I'm usually at my sister's or my mother's house to visit and go straight home afterwards.

I'm curious how some people make a living without leaving the house.

There is a number of things you can do from home. I have a friend who worked as a Customer Service rep for Sprint and she took calls from home through her computer using company software, allowing her to never have to leave the house for work. Nice, since she could literally work from bed some days if she had to lol.
edit: Something like that requires the ability to comfortably deal with people though... phone interaction. You can also find other things that may not need as much people interaction, but the way I see it is that the less people you're interacting with the less likely it is your job is a legitimate job... if you're making money it has to be coming from somewhere (not to say you can't make money without talking to people or on your own, but generally speaking most people don't) making and selling things online is an at-home business but I don't think it's "a living" as most people would consider that to be.

Surprisingly I talk to about 2-3 people on a daily basis over my 8 hours at work, not including lunch, and it is only for like 15-30 minutes at most.
Everyone in the office communicates over an instant messaging system in gmail. Sometimes I just work from home in which case I don't need to talk to anybody unless you count instant messaging people. I would just work from home always, but the office is about 5 minutes away and I kind of enjoy the limited social interaction involved. I'm very thankful I never have to talk to customers. There are like 3 whole layers between me and the customer so I really don't even know who the customers are. |

Not to say i've ever had a social life.. But well, it's quite less social than it use to be. Benzo withdrawals are fucking HELL. Holyyyyyyy..
Can't stop fucking shaking. Muscle spasms are hell, so i guess i can't really socialize too much in person right now, as i look like a complete retard with my spasms. Look like i'm trying to work my abdomen out or something. Shit by the end of this ima have a 6 pack. |

My social life is at the point where I'm thinking it's better to just cut every single tie I have left and end it there.

I haven't got to the point where I'm living off of the funds but I've made thousands of dollars now from web development and graphic design oddjobs.

No. I just don't want to be around anybody. It's never worth it. The effort isn't worth it. Not just for a social life, for everything.

Social life is pretty rad right now. Have 6 close friends that I've known for 5+ years, a girlfriend that I've been dating for 2 and a half, and a good group of friends at the college I'm attending.
Despite all this I'm finding solid alone time for just whenever. Unrelated to my social life: Having friends/a social life doesn't always have to be worth it. Sometimes people just aren't worth the bother and it's better to chill by yourself or keeping the few friends you may already have. Nothing wrong with cutting all your ties if you feel like it'll make you feel better. :^)
