Watercolor Painting
This is a watercolor painting of some soil, grass, flowers, leaves, birds, the sun, an insect, and a tree. I added a heart for cuteness afterwards. The entire picture is painted with only the color blue. ^.^ Please tell me what you think of it.

Re: Watercolor Painting
Thank you, but I was going for a serene atmosphere rather than a blue, or sad, atmosphere.

Re: Watercolor Painting
The area where I painted only had the color blue available. ^.^
No, I'm serious. My experience with watercolor isn't very extensive, and I'm just starting out. Even if I can only draw two dimensional figures, or stick figures, I spent an hour on this picture and I was very careful with my strokes so that the painting looked even.

Re: Watercolor Painting
To be able to paint, you'll need a strong basis in 2D fundamentals of drawing. To be honest, this is very childlike and I can't give much of a critique other than practice your fundamentals because there is just too much wrong with it. Practice things like perspective, value, color theory, composition and anatomy proportion/construction if you want to improve.

Re: Watercolor Painting
Watercolour is a nice medium when you mix it with water to create transparency. You can overlap colours for some interesting effects. Otherwise, everything will be opaque and you'll be stuck with that permanent marker look.

Re: Watercolor Painting
Very abstract. Almost looks nothing like what you said it was.

I see what you mean, but I had no intention of drawing the sun realistically in this painting. ^.^ Quote:
I agree that it doesn't look like actual representations of the nature I drew, but I wasn't trying to be realistic in my painting. ^.^

Re: Watercolor Painting
I quite like the piece actually, mostly because of the depiction OF the childish sort of playfulness. If you could accomplish playing with the styles seen in "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" and things of that style I think it would be something worth working up to!

Re: Watercolor Painting
Thank you, I'll think about improving my child-like drawings and paintings to have a similar style to children's books.
