Where's Bill
- [2/10]
- The overlayering issue and the technical errors don’t make a good combination for this long of a song

those 'technical' errors are intentional so that the song doesn't become a 48th/64th ridden shitfest
not all those 48th/64ths are recognizable among the 10 other sounds

at the very least most of the errors that were pointed out in my submissions were noticed within a week after submission closed. shame i wasn't able to send the newer(better) versions beforehand

can i send them to regular batch?

I wasn't expecting much for Folk-Lore, it's just one of those charts, haha.

I'll take a look at the notes though. Most of you say I was copy and pasting, which I do admit I kind of did, but trust me when I say varying up that chart feels like it would be a death trap.

Ah well, thanks for your time anyways judges, haha.

EDIT: Actually, from the notes I got, I feel like it would've done a lot better if it was cut, haha. Yeah, now that I see how you folks think of it, I think I'll try again with this song. I just wasn't sure how the full one would be perceived. It's all good, no hard feelings! I'll definitely go with the suggestion of cutting though. That would surely get rid of the copy-paste syndrome I have going on in that chart.

Once again, thanks for taking a look at it folks!

Heterochromia Iridis
6/6/6.5/6.5/8 = 6.6
Notes:
Basically this is inconsistent because AJ and I have no idea what we are doing

Great Battleship
8/8/8/8/9 = 8.2
Notes:
Yeah that runningman was supposed to be a 2134 roll gg sent the wrong file
Fuck you whoever told me to double the bpm, 32nds are hawt and endless 8ths are ghey
(realtalk though I'm pretty sure it is actually 130 bpm. Listen to the snare drum)
And yeah that hidden jack in the 32nds was a good thing to point out, definitely will tweak that a little
All around pretty cool notes, glad this was accepted with such high ratings

HAELEQUIN
6/6/7/8.5/9 = 7.3
Notes:
Apparently it's inconsistent... NOT AS INCONSISTENT AS THE JUDGES' RATINGS THOUGH AHAHAHA
Basically everyone was mad because it's a collab that switches between 2 wildly different stepping styles
Lots of good little suggestions tho, will definitely check those out

Turbo
6/7/8/8/9 = 7.6
Notes:
MFW THIS GOT ACCEPTED LMFAO YOU ARE ALL FUCKED
So much hate on jacks but then I get good scores because you know in your hearts this file is good even though it's jacks
I will check out that one section that someone mentioned
Mostly the comments were "jacks whyyy... okay fine this file is good here's your passing rating"
This file is going to be J'ai Envie v2 feat. more jacks damn I'm so excited to drink the d6+ player tears haha

In summary:
Collabs are bad because people flip out if a file has more than 1 consistent stepping style. Understandable I guess.

Good thing I'm not using a really flat keyboard, otherwise I would've killed you for those jacks. :<

Fission:
The Devil Plays Dance Games - 5/10
@ the entire intro feels too simple. there are 12th notes that could be stepped, and the jumps could be PRed better as well. honestly, it would have just been better to cut this.
@ many of the 8th sections in this file feel really empty.
@ in regards to the rest of the file, the PR is really weak in many areas and your whole chart feels really unstructured as a result.

Rebound:
In general, this file does not really have that much mistakes except for the fact that you have sudden increases in difficulty during those dense jumpstream sections which can be frustrating for some people.
Already cut the intro, I would love to know a couple of 8th sections to beef up though and would also like to know what you meant by "sudden increases in difficulty".

Quote:
The Devil Plays Dance Games (EzExZeRo7497)
Rating: [+.] [6/10]
- pitch relevancy would be a nice touch to the harpsichord intro at 29.103
- 36.853: should be a jump given your layering with snares
- 40.603: mix up your jump patterns again while still giving a descending feel (something like [24] [23] [13] would work well here)
- 48.103: this would look a lot better backwards as opposed to forward since the harpsichord does a descending scale (this note is technically applicable to the jumps as well)
- 56.353: a number of jumps missing for your layering scheme here
- 70.853: more PR-related things that can be easily fixed since there's not too much going on (in this case, make your triples descend)
- 72.541/72.666: missing notes -- make these jumps if you want this accenting to be consistent, or make them all singles (a trill for example) for a more "transitional" accent
- 80.291: missing jump
- 91.853: careful with your patterning here; you're implicating a repetition of six notes when the melody repeats a phrase of eight notes
- 149.103: somewhat abrupt transition in layering here, not very progressive
- 157.103/161.103: missing jumps, these are very noticeable because they serve as the start of new sections
- file is not too bad, but could really use some tweaking to improve visual clarity -- rhythms all make sense and structure is respectable
Thanks for pinpointing out missing notes and ghost notes, fixed those. Not too sure what you meant at 56.5s though, I'm layering to one particular sound (it gets denser in the second half of the 12th stream because the sound is more prominent) and I'm not layering the percussion at all to begin with.

Quote:
Dossar:
The Devil Plays Dance Games
- 98.12: While the 8th jumps are going to the drums this sudden spike in density ruins this section
- 124.12: This jumpstream section has very awkward patterning and it’s not quite as noticeable in stepmania. On FFR, this part is pretty bad (watch out for parts like 131.50, etc).
- 138.12: Sudden jump in FC difficulty
- The main problems I have with this file are the sudden increases in density (particularly 98.12 and 138.12) while most of the song is a lot of 8th note jumpstream with a 12th section 57 seconds in. The plethora of 212 type one handed mintrill patterns mixed in the jumpstreams also cause some messy transitioning.
Watered down the part at 98s to JS with only 4th jumps. Thought that 4th/8th jumps would be too excessive after sending it, haha. Also tried to remove mini-one hand trills and minijacks in the second JS, I'm pretty cross on changing the part that 138.12 though. It's obvious that the energy really increased there and I felt that a jumptrill would definitely suffice there despite the fact that it'll boost the FC difficulty by quite a bit.

My reviews seem legit, I'm a tad disappointed with the results. I guess Crimson Rose really was my last file even though I tried to step some more.

Turbo looks like a lot of fun as long as there aren't shitty 32nd sections you're hiding from us with that image ~_~

hello i am noob

how do we know if a file was accepted or not? Or do we yet?

edit: i love you i noticed you felt that the color notes were random

listen to the lead synth kthxbai

edit2: eclipse (luna) was the file
I'll elaborate; the placement (1, 2, 3, 4) of the notes was not always PR because the streams would've been horrid.

I'll admit many of the 32nd bursts were awkward but there were so many of them I didn't want to get boring and make it another file with rolls that were layered so that each set of 4 notes in a roll took exactly one spot in 1, 2, 3, 4.

Nah it's just 2 minutes of medium length jacks with a little easy JS to break it up.

Like it's really actually a good file, hence the ratings, just trolly with FFR's combo scoring and no chord cohesion.
