there is plenty you can do with xmod without requiring the file be played on sm5. see:
granted it's most likely easier to do in sm5, but i don't know of any gimmicks that are only possible in sm5. |

if you use a SM5 warp (as opposed to a negative), it won't work in 3.95 - i.e. Kommi's file
which is exactly what I was trying to say with "it would be nice if SM5 back-converted warps to their appropriate negative calculations for older versions" |

Including files that work properly on 3.95 CVS is fine for SM 5 users -- it caters to the larger group of players visibly on 3.95 and the smaller group of SM 5 players in this community; including files that only work properly on SM 5 caters only to the SM5 players and leaves the other group screwed. I'm not forcing people to upgrade their game engines to play one file in what would be an 18 file pack. |

Listen I really don't want this to get super escalated. I loved Gum, I wanted to include it, but because it only works on one specific SM build I didn't feel it was a good idea to put it in. I'm not saying people play any specific build over another it just comes down to the other files can be played on any build where as Gum cannot.
If you remember when I started this pack I said no SM5 files at all for this reason. Then people were like oh we wanna do SM5 so I said fine I will run a side SM5 specific pack, then no one else submitted anything but Kommi. I would have been more than happy to have an SM5 pack of X-mod files but it just didn't play out that way. If people want to shoot over more SM5 files I will gladly still put it together. If not I really don't know what else I can do to resolve the issue. |

Downloading. Thank you for providing the SMO mirror, since Mediafire is now a beyond retarded uploading site (might as well remove that link since the site already shafted the upload).

Yeah I didn't realize mediafire had gotten that way. Probably better off just using the SMO one. I'll change that now.

I just think this whole compatibility thing is dumb. People who use 3.9 don't complain about rolls. They just play another file.

Review Tiem!
Acid Wolfpack - Mine. Atomic - Its okay but I definately dont agree with many of the gimmicks here, for instance on those areas with the reverbed snare or whatever it is, although i see what you are doing, it just feels off because besides the reverb there's like no real disrupt in the flow of the song that seems to justify it (the beat remains completely constant). There's a couple other things here and there but im not going to dwell on it. The file really isn't bad though don't get me wrong XD 7 Broken Notes - Im not too terribly fond of the gimmicks here, but the concept isnt bad. The fact that sync of the song drifts due to inprecise execution makes it bad. Even if i went and memorized every gimmick here the wavering sync makes it imposible for me to score decent on. 3 Contact - Pretty damn fun, although the xmods here arent that memorable they still work well. Would play again. 9 Daydreamer - The xmods are alrite, and the patterns are fun.The chart ends too abruptly however, I feel as though my dodgeball fun was cut off prematurely :P 7.5 Destroyer - One of my favorite files on TS, holds true for this pack. Just great all around. 10 Galvanize - Pretty fun and the gimmicks for the most part are pretty tolerable, although you have hit on a peeve of mine with those unsightreadable stops you got going there 8Get Up - Although kinda slow it still manages to be fun. The gimmicks at the breakdown are painful with fast speeds but otherwise kinda fun. I question some of the pattern choices however, specifically right after some of those hand jacks, mine chains can be poop too. 7 Let Me Hit It - I'm sorry to say that the only thing memorable about the chart is the perpetually yawning chick in the background XD 6 Never Enough - Pretty fun 8Overdrive - Also pretty fun and there are alot of really cool tricks here and there, although personally i would have used a lower bpm on those stutters in the beginning. 9 Release The Music - this was so godly it crashed my stepmania. 11 Smoke - looks great however it will not stop crashing my stepmania :/ wish i could enjoy it Steel Needle - Pretty great, a couple of bullshit warps aside XD 9.5 STOP! & Go - AAAAUUUUGHUGGUHGUHGHG 5 Windowlicker - Still probably my favorite file of mine. Wolfgang's 5th Symphony - I honestly cant decide how i feel about this. Im interested in Gum btw. Send that shit to CringeFest :3

ffs you throw a bigger fit than my 2yr old when she doesn't get her way. To me it made no sense to include a single sm5 file that wasn't going to work right for everyone. I don't care if the majority used one or the other, if it only works on one specific build it seemed pointless to me considering the other files can play on all.
Anyway, hopefully this is a good enough solution to stop all the stupid arguing in this thread. Quote:
Edit: Dammnit I don't know why Smoke is crashing for some people. The file is great.

It's not as if I didn't want to include the file at all I just didn't want it to break for people who didn't realize it's SM5. You may have your group of avid players that use SM5 or would understand why the file was broken if they tried playing it in something else, but not everyone is that into SM. I remember when I first started and I was playing a file that I kept having an issue with in 3.9 because I hadn't realized there was a roll in it and that they weren't compatible with 3.9. I just wanted this pack to encompass people on all versions as I had said when I started it. The back and forth in this thread wasn't getting anyone anywhere and I'd really like to see some actual feedback on the contents of the pack. Last night I hadn't thought about just doing the pack + gum and marking it with SM5. I'm tired, I have a newborn in the house so I don't always think clearly right now. I'm glad this solution works for you and hopefully all the SM5 players out there get to try it out. It's definitely fun to play.

X-mods are the ones that say 1x 2x 3x 4x 8x. Those are usually stock with sm.
