Xbox One reveal

I have been too busy on /v/ to even look at all of the butthurt on the thread here. The reveal was awful but it makes me feel great about being a retro gamer.

I don't mind the features, per say. I just don't like how that's the only thing they seem to be targeting these days.

I'm sure there's still going to be quality games being developed for the system specifically. But from the sounds of it, they're going to impede their customers by lots of security checks.

You know, as a whole, I like Microsoft, I truly do. Their machines look good, work well, and feel great in general. However, I just despise their mentality. It's like they forgot Xbox is their GAME division.

I don't get what the big deal with this is. From what I've heard, the kinect is going to come bundled with the Xbox. If anything, this makes it easier for video game developers. They don't have to worry about whether or not people are going to have the kinect because it's a guarantee that they are going to have it. If anything it'll lead to better quality games that actually make good use of the kinect in possible conjunction with the controller. With the 360, it would be slightly discouraging and risky to make a game for the kinect since the your audience would only be a fraction of those that have an Xbox console. With the Xbox One, that risk wouldn't exist and more developers would be more enticed to make good use of the kinect. Anyways, my opinion isn't worth much since I haven't owned a gaming console since the original Xbox so I probably don't know what I'm talking about :P

There's a lot of other good points in this thread though that makes is seem like the Xbox One isn't worth buying. The having to be connected online to play games seems kinda ridiculous if that's true. The thing about discs being registered to the first console it's installed on is just plain retarded. It's like, if you wanted to go your friend's house to play some games or something and you wanted to play a game with him that only you had, you'd have to bring over your game and the entire freaking console. dumb.

Yeah... I hated the details, too.

A deal breaker for me was not being backwards compatible. But if they can include games that are being released this year for the 360, I'll look into it.

Price? £399. Currently, this converts to $599.

Neither PS4 or Xbox One are backwards compatible, just so you know.

Yeah, looks like this new upcoming console generation is ignoring the backward compatibility card. Probably for a good reason too seeing how it worked last generation.

Xbox 360 tried to emulate Xbox games, we all know how that went. Some games just didn't properly emulate very well with whatever emulation Microsoft made to play original Xbox games.

PS3 tried the hardware route so no emulation was necessary. We all know what happened because of that. ($599.99 starting price)

Wii got away with it because the Wii was just a modified Gamecube of sorts.

I don't think I am a blind fanboy, but yes, I do love my Wii U (and take any opportunity I can to defend it because, well, I like it!). Nintendoland is the best game I ever brought to a party, over and over again, people beg me to bring it with my 4 wii-motes. I also dig ZombiU a lot; whatever the general public says about it, I love that game. It scared me genuinely a few times and it just clicks with me. Aside from that, playing Super Metroid or Punch-out with earphones off TV when my dad comes in to watch his boring news is pretty awesome. I like messing in miiverse as well, some people there are really nice or really n00b, it's like the internet is new and exciting again. I also play Pandora's Tower and Xenoblade, because even though they're Wii games, I can play them on my Wii U. Rayman Legends Challenge App is the final app I have that I really dig, those daily challenges are quick and simply fun. Oh and free Tank!Tank!Tank! is nice to have, too.

lol and yes, I even have TV. Nintendo TVii.
