Fractals!

The companion to Dragon's thread.
My least favorite has got to be difficulty settings that are based solely off of quantitative things--how much time the computer takes to think of its next move in chess, or giving the player more or less HP relative to what the enemies can dish out. You're not facing a beginner in those modes--you're playing an expert that handicaps himself but still knows more tricks than you ever will. |

Glad my thread interested you enough to make an opposite!
![]() I guess the least favorite for me is if there are no extras, sidequests, unlockables, bonuses, etc. whatsoever. I don't really like super straight forward games, then it has a lot less replay value in my opinion, and I love replay value... (who doesn't?)

Only when the people within it are terrible to being with and or when the developers don't support it enough so it cripples fast.

So you don't like us? That's okay, we don't like you either.
![]() As for my answer to the topic, exactly what Dragon said. I also dislike repetitious playing so that extra gameplay to throw things out of the way is a way to slow it down a bit. (Usually.)

When the gameplay stalls ridiculously too much.
I play games to PLAY games, I don't want to watch a damn movie. It's ok if there's a story, but please don't make 75% of the game dialogs and cutscenes. Similarly I hate when games are being really, REALLY passive. It's just not fun to me. Puzzles games are fine as long as you keep doing something that requires playing the game. Backtracking for half an hour every 5 minutes of action in Metroid, no, thanks. It wears on my mind, I'd rather have a 5 minutes loading sequence and possibly do something more interesting meanwhile. Lastly, grinding when it's just a repetitive action that is simply required for make the game last longer. I think it's absolutely ridiculous that you have to train until your character is strong enough. Difficulty should force the player to get better, not the ingame character! (Yes I strongly hate most RPG games.)
