My family and I were just in Boston last week. My heart goes out to the family and friends of those who were killed and injured.

It's a shame that people can't mourn any tragic event such as this because right off the get-go they're caught up too much in the inevitable assumption that it was conspiracy this or conspiracy that.
If one of the infowarfag's own families were in a tragic event fatally wounded or dead, I don't think the number one thing they'd worry about was who's to blame or whether it was a conspiracy or blah blah, they'd be more worried about their families at that time and not coming up with random shit and posting it on the internet Stupid. Condolences to the families

Yes, another person was a 29 year old woman and no information has been released on the third

I can't imagine how some of the runners who were injured feel, especially that guy who lost his leg.
It takes years of training for the boston marathon and they'll never be able to run unhindered again

In a way, I can see the allure of conspiracy theories. It potentially makes the world more exciting. It's fun to think that somewhere, a real life equivalent to Chancellor Palpatine is carefully calculating his rise to Emperor, and that we'll one day join the Rebel Alliance and mow down stormtroopers left and right.
But sadly, that's not the case. Star Wars isn't real. Get over it. But seriously, though. I hope they catch whoever did this, and I'm glad the outcome wasn't worse. |

This has saddened me a lot, however things like these happen daily over the world, and they are usually even more atrocious, yet they never get all this concern. Why?

i would say some of that concern is attributed to the perception of one of the world's leading superpowers has been attacked on it's own soil

Yes, however it is still unclear who did this attack. It could have been a psycho or someone who had a reason to blow up bombs on the marathon, why is it necessarily an attack on america? It kind of implies something from the outside was behind the attack.

People care because it's close enough to have happened to 'us' not 'them'.

CNN says arrest has been made. Kind of hard to believe since if I were the suspect, I would have left the country ASAP. Why stay in the country?

It blows my mind that people, including you, cannot see why this incident would be a bit more concerning to Americans.

all events like these are equally tragic
however it is completely reasonable for americans to be more sympathetic and more emotional about an attack that happened within their country. they are more familiar with the location, the circumstances, and the people involved if a house in my neighborhood caught on fire i would be much more concerned than if a house in another state caught on fire
