I also have the caps lock light issue. I put duck tape over it so I can't see the light. My right pinky used to start reaching for the sky when I would play, but it seems to have stopped doing that. |

-When playing 4k I switch to index+ring finger sometimes
-Saying out the vocal samples in a song if used sparsely -imagining some random BGA or graphic video playing to match the song -holding Tab even outside of Stepmania -pressing scroll lock instead of screenshot at results screen |

About 60% of the way through any song, if I'm AAAing or AAAAing it, I'll get more nervous than I would if I had a job interview in 5 minutes or was going on a date with a new person, and then that would make be **** up and my scores become terrible
This happens on FFR also and it makes me unable to AAA ANYTHING on a sightread or anything ever This ****s me up on stuff that is easier than tricky or standard songs (old difficulty scale) also |

Lately I've developed a nasty habit of dropping my jaw in the middle of a good MA. Not out of awe, cause I suck, but it just happens.
I also push my left thumb against the very front of my keyboard, right under the spacebar, to push it against the end of the shelf that holds my keyboard, so it doesn't move as much. My speed on my left hand increases that way.. |

I shift around in my chair a lot before starting a song sometimes. I'll switch between curling my toes in and a normal sitting position.
I find myself sweating + red face after playing a lot of difficult stuff, but maybe that's normal lol I almost never play something twice, only if I'm close to getting a AA or it's a newer file and I am trying to figure the patterns out I almost exclusively read by focusing on the 3 and 4 columns (usually this only happens during dense jumpstream or fast streams) since I keep time with the right hand (louder taps) it helps me to read this way. For this reason I can read SPLIT mod really well :P The accuracy/doing well after messing up is the whole "nothing to lose" idea. Recently I've been trying to convince myself when I'm doing well that I've already messed up, it's pretty much impossible not to be nervous sometimes though ![]() |

When I'm playing metal songs on Stepmania, I whammy longer holds like crazy.
If I get an awesome run I tend to press print screen 3 or 4 times in excitement. I have my caps lock light covered up because it distracts me while playing if I accidentally turn it on. After a pretty difficult song I put my hands in front of my AC for around 5 seconds before picking something else.

lol its funny to read what kinds of habits people have in this game
the oldest habit ive had is that i feel like everything is moving (my keyboard, my chair, something) that is messing me up, so i always go to fix it and mess myself up |

I do the same. Guitar solos are too much fun.

sometimes I look away from the screen a little bit while playing, and usually my score is unaffected. no idea how that works. |

i have a natural tendency to hit late, specifically on stuff i know. i also tend to hit earlier than my usual on sightreads, so those scores will often be better than subsequent plays, for a little while. |

i unconsciously clench my jaw/grind my teeth on intense stuff
its actually a pretty bad habit and my jaw tends to hurt after long periods of playing |

Sometimes I get this incredibly annoying feeling that my hand is positioned wrong somehow (this happens even mid-song) and I start moving my hands around ever so slightly. Most of the time this causes me to miss, but sometimes I am able to keep my accuracy going.

I care about noteskins
I care about playing on xbox 360 controller I care about playing PIU and other gametypes on SM I care about being able to play index, one handed, spread and other ways I care about being able to read upscroll and downscroll I care about any kind of simfile aslong as they are onsync and have the right bpm I get pain my my left wrist when I play hard songs so I put it under cold water to fix that I sometimes sing with the songs I play I sometimes dance while playing (on keyboard) I use a higher cmod when playing on xbox 360 controller but a slower cmod when playing solo I dont give a **** about getting good score but enjoying the music and a few other shits I cant remember from the top of my head

Woah yeah I also have that one sided pain when playing hard songs. I'm left-handed so my right hand will usually begin to lack stamina faster, which isn't a bad thing since it overshadows the pain in my left hand.

def. mash keys before the song, and i tend to crack my knuckles in the middle of a song, especially if a hard part is coming up. I'll crack my index, then middle finger on both hands with just my thumb
