I stopped wearing chucks for ddr and i wear my track shoes. With them, I finally beat max300 arcade.

after wearing vans in arcades for about a year, ive found pumas actually work REALLY well on hard pads.

I use my very broken in Hawk skate shoes, the laces have been replaced 2 times on my left shoe because of skateboarding, but they're still awesome.

my home mats suck out loud cuz i have the cheep ones that you get with the game so i play bare foot at home but at the arcade i use my etnies i like the way the bottom feels and i get traction okay

(but i still want to get some red octaine mats those ones with the lights in them)

converse weapons (hightops). they squeak every now and then though esp. in winter so it can get a little annoying
