my school has "practice lockdowns" twice a year, but they don't do any searching or else 1/5 of the kids would be gone from the school.

Minnesota's so boring, we must be rubbing off from Canada... (about the no weapons or stuff)

45% fail rate? dam, our school has about 2%. again.. Canada.

When I was in 2nd grade, we went in a lockdown. Which was really funny b/c the teacher ran to lock her door, tripped and busted her face.

I was in middle school around the time of the Columbine shootings, and that's when I remember all the lockdown drills happening. The secretary would come over the intercom and announce that the "IOC meeting" was in X room. "IOC" meant "Intruder on Campus" and "X room" meant where that intruder was. The teacher was supposed to cover the window on the door, lock the door, pull the shades, and I guess we were all supposed to get against the wall, but my crazed English teacher always just continued her lessons.

THEN I moved to Arkansas. And in Arkansas, everyone has guns, so no one's ever really surprised? We had about a dozen evacuations due to bomb threats while I was in highschool, and in 2002 someone wrote an anonymous letter threatening the lives of all the seniors, and that was about it.

We had a lockdown in school because some idiot kids were smoking weed in the bathrooms.

Turns out they had knives. And a PS2 with one of those flip-top screens.

They were smoking weed, carving stuff into the wall, and playing Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
One of my friends said he saw them, but he was probably lying.

Lol Panda, harsh.

TODAY!!! I was walking in the hall and opened my locker.
Next thing i saw next to me was a Freshman opening his locker, so i moves to see what was he taking out.. i thought i should be friendly (he just moved there and had no locker left in the freshman section, so they moved him right next to me)
and guess what i saw? A GUN, kinda small...

Yep, so he looked up at me like i was somekind of monster and he whispered "What you looking at?"
and i opened my eyes.. WIDE.
Yep, yep he took out his gun and i started to panic
I RAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNN DOWN TO THE OFFICE TO REPORT HIM.
Then i heard a shot through the hall.
I reported him, and he got EXPELLED
well we needed an evacuation, cause he was running through the halls like crazy with his small gun.

After the police got him the Vice principle said to me
"He is suicidle"
"Really?"
"Yeah this is the first freshman, i don't think this ever happened to anyother freshmans"
"Kinda scary"
"You should be scared, he probably wanted to shoot you after you saw his gun"

Umm... I'm pampered. No lockdowns, but a 95% postsecondary admission rate (95% get into college), not a 45% fail rate. We do have lots of weed everywhere though...

MsBrunette, it must be crazy living in israel. Just hope the US doesn't invade Iran... I have some jewish friends who want to go to Israel this summer, but they may cancel b/c my history teacher says there's a 50-50 chance of us invading in June. Stupid Bush... he starts everything and claims that terrorism levels have gone down since he came to office.

Never had a lockdown.

Probably will, though, but a lot of the kids in my school aren't really that hardcore that I know of.

Today there was a lockdownish thing at my school.

Theres like this crazy rapist guy. First he raped someone in Manchester New Hampshire, then he got into a car crash in my town Derry, and he was running away on my street during school. All of the people in my area place had to stay after school to get picked up. Last I heard was that he was two streets down from me. They said he had a rifle and some kinda handgun. There were 5 cop cars and a helicopter surrounding him.

I'll edit this as i get more info.

I know some people might think this is nothing because you live in big cities or whatever and this happens all the time. But this is a big thing for my town.

EDIT: Okay yesterday I had a baseball game and I lost. When it was over, I went home (duh). When I got home my family was looking for news on the TV. While we were looking, my mom's friend called and said the guy was caught, so we were all happy. But then like a minute later my neighbor called and told us a different story. She said that he shot and killed 6 people at our Wal-Mart, but then was caught. All of us were freaking out. Then we found a news channel and watched it. It said that the shooting at Wal-Mart was in North Carolina(I live in New Hampshire). He was also caught without putting up a fight. Now I can sleep. [/code]

Hee hee. Don't run in a track meet.

The gun goes off at the beginning of each race, and on the start of the last lap. The start of the last lap is always a shock--you're watching people run the 2 mile, talking to your buddies, and then you hear a P--KHHHH from about 15 feet away. It's a little surprising--especially when they have both boys and girls running in the same heat. They fire it TWICE after the race starts. O_O

Also, one kid DID get shot to death this year...but it was outside of school.

Nothing happens in my town.

Ever.

Well, there was this story about these gypsies that came to this old person's house and stole stuff...

and that's about it.
