Default donkey kong country

recently i bought a copy of donkey kong country for the gameboy color. I tried it out and it works, but the odd thing is that you have access to everything. When i delete a file and start playing it allows me to go to any level right from the beginning. One thing i find really odd is i have not found a single enemy in any level, and nothing works such as being able to grab onto a rope or using a barrel. so anyone have an idea of whats wrong? If comments are appreciated.

And yet, I still have Donkey Kong Country 1 and 3 for the SNES and DKC2 for the Game Boy Advance. Would be awesome if that happened to me :P

A family friend just donated some old N64 games and DK64 was in the mix but my N64 doesn't have the memory expansion...

But yeah it sounds like you have a cartridge that may have been used for modding, unsuccessfully I might add. I'd just get another copy, they go for a few dollars on eBay.

I actually own the entire trilogy for the SNES. Hard set of games. Donkey Kong Country 1 was the most difficult to achieve 100% imo. DKC2 had it's moments where it was extremely hard, but too many other ones where it wasn't. The runthrough of DKC2 is much harder than DKC3 or 1, imo

I own the entire set for the snes as well. Still with original packaging too!
DKC2 is my favorite. Still trying to find an original copy of the soundtrack cd of 2, but god damn it's hard to find.

Maybe your cart is cursed. Keep playing, see if it's like one of those things where a message will eventually come up telling you to get other people to play it within a week or else you'll die. That would be a kinda cool find.

I didn't like DKC1 101% because of how random places were for the bonus stages

Seriously I spent an hour on some trying to figure out where the hell they were. Plus some stages had 3 or 4 bonus stages, some had none

i just realized something odd. well i think its odd. when you go over the three data spots only the first one shows something even though your able to delete the other three. it shows above it "1X:1% 035%"

I was working on that and got to the Lost World, maybe 3rd or 4th world through it, and I had to get the extra stuff in the world with that scientist guy's castle. Then I gave up because it got too hard for me sadly and I felt no more motivation to try to play through the game
