I believe there's a significant chance that this will pass. Money talks, and enough of it can sign a signature or two as well. So, yeah, I'm pretty scared and I'm crossing my fingers.

It would be a sad day when the president gets bribed by congress.
(I have a feeling I remember something like that happening once for some reason)

Either way, herpaderp congressulations, morons.

Somebody needs to put the RIAA and MPAA in their place once and for all.

Let's hope it doesn't pass in congress. If it comes to Obama's decision, then either this shitty bill is passed, or Obama's ratings skyrocket. I don't know which is worse.

It doesn't matter. Obama's gonna veto it, even if Congress does pass it though.

wait! obama is going to veto it?! but he is always wrong! that means that we should pass this bill, stat!

all you guys do is try to make obama look bad. i don't know about you but they gave me a better understanding of the government in high school than to judge the president on whatever shit boils up from the murky shitswamps that are congress and senate.

in the Washington Post article posted on here, it says this bill is being supported by Kay Bailey Hutchinson. some background info: that is my local congresswoman and DFW is the home to at&t. so who do you think she's representing?

Obama's far from the worst president we've had. I'll take four more years of Obama over an internet where major corporations are the judge, jury, and executioner.

Obama's not even bad at all IMO. Any president who's in during rough economic times is unpopular.

Anyways I'm not so scared right now but I hope something like this NEVER gets passed. The protocols we use to access information on the internet (HTTP/DNS/TCP/IPv?) will more than probably change in our lifetime, maybe even start to see the beginning of it in this decade. When they do this I really hope they don't do it with this sort of agenda in mind.

It's not that Obama's bad. Just that every time he tried to do something Congress and Republicans always do whatever they can to make it hard for him to actually do ANYTHING good.

1. Elect black president
2. Censor interwebs
3. ???
4. Doomsday.

It lines up, and I'm sure conspirators will love to add this to the list of events which will lead up to the end.

Seriously though, I think this might pass. I've heard arguments in school about it and from what I hear, it's not an infringement on our basic freedoms. They say, speech is only applicable if actually spoken and it's not a form of press since it's not a printed document. By that argument, I would say this has a good chance.

I don't want this to pass, but I can see how it might.

It's Swedish and gives about -40% of a fuck about American law, or any law for that matter.
Pirating is probably the last thing that will be affected by this law, mostly the law will make it a crime to do currently-legal things such as posting videos of you playing a game or singing a song on Youtube.

If they start interperating laws this literally and not abiding by what they actually mean I'd just plain move or become some sort of violent rebel. Thankfully this isn't happening in Canada but we're heavily influenced by you guys and what happens there, often ends up happening here.

The U.S. would block any connections from there though. You could get around it like how I got on Facebook in China but if authorities find out you're ****ed.

Gotta love politics.

Honestly i don't disagree with you (Well i do on me being inattentive and/or retarded, but yeah). The "lol.." was more referring to the fact that he was blaming republicans as if there aren't more than a handful of democrats that disagree with a good deal of Obama's policies. And let me say i strongly agree with the statement that our politicians are apeshit retarded.

I'd rather not be dragged into a political debate over this as i hate politics so don't be surprised if i just let me self out of this thread for now. :P
