Dossar's Concise Guide To FFR Scoring Types
Welcome to Dossar's concise FFR scoring guide
There are two main types of scoring in FFR: Raw Scoring and Combo Scoring. Combo scoring weighs combo more than any other element in your score. Here is how it is calculated: PERFECT = +550 GOOD = +275 AVERAGE = +55 MISS = -310 BOO = -20 COMBO = +1000 Combo scoring formula: ( Max Combo x 1000 ) + ( Perfect x 550 ) + ( Good x 275 ) + ( Average x 55 ) - ( Miss x 310 ) - ( Boo x 20 ) An example of Combo Scoring can be seen by clicking this spoiler button. Raw Scoring is the scoring type that is not affected by combo. Here is how it is calculated: PERFECT = +50 GOOD = +25 AVERAGE = +5 MISS = -10 BOO = -5 Raw scoring formula: ( Perfect x 50 ) + ( Good x 25 ) + ( Average x 5 ) - ( Miss x 10 ) - ( Boo x 5 ) An example of Raw Scoring can be seen by clicking this spoiler button. This is a useful tool for calculating both scoring types. All you have to do is enter in the perfect/good/average/miss/boo/combo and it'll calculate both scoring types for you! The scoreboards you see on the levelstats go by combo scoring, and multiplayer goes by raw scoring. There you go, straight explanation. Glad I could help! - Sincerely, Dossar

Re: Dossar's Concise Guide To FFR Scoring Types
qqwref's super concise as fuc FFR scoring guide
total score: used in levelranks and bad tournaments total score = 1000*max combo + 550*perfects + 275*goods + 55*averages - 310*misses - 20*boos raw score: used in multiplayer and good tournaments raw score = 50*perfects + 25*goods + 5*averages - 10*misses - 5*boos here's a tool to calculate it for you

If this is a response to Trivalent's thread, I don't understand why you had to do this.
Seems kinda insensitive too, especially in response to something that he obviously spend time into for what he felt would be useful to others. |

Merge qqwref's post to Dossar's first post -- after that, requesting sticky
EDIT: lol qqwref EDIT: also, didn't know that this was in response to a ignorant new player or something, but I still feel this could be a nice addition to answer questions for any new players |

Re: Dossar's Concise Guide To FFR Scoring Types
The reason why the formula in my thread was more complex than it should have technically been is because I noticed a problem in the total score using Velo's engine. In that engine, negative scores did not calculate like they must, since the addition of the base score was off for some reason. I though it was as simple as 11*base score but it didn't add up properly in Velo's engine. So I figured out that it wasn't calculated that way and that the formula was more complex than that. Maybe I shouldn't have posted that version and used a more simple version, but I felt it just wouldn't be right to do that, since I figured it would get noticed eventually.
Anyways, I only wanted to share the information with others in case they wanted it since I was curious about it myself. Though I am quite disappointed that I'm being called ignorant and that this thread was apparently made as a joke. But whatever, I'd like at least one thread of this kind to be stickied since I thought the forum needed one, and if it's this one, I'm perfectly fine with it, and I'll delete mine. |

I don't know if you're right or not. If you are, great find!
That aside, I do have a problem with Dossar doing this. Way to make a snide thread at the expense of a new poster. And the community always wonders why it doesn't get new active members very often? |

Re: Dossar's Concise Guide To FFR Scoring Types
Correct, negative scores don't get recorded (otherwise you'd lose grandtotal)

Like I said, I probably shouldn't have even mentioned it and just rolled with a simpler version since no one really cares about negative scores anyways and since they aren't recorded. Last edited by Trivalent; 10-31-2011 at 09:19 PM.. |

The formula, like you stated, was also pretty fishy, so I found it necessary to step in - but whether this gets interpreted as "LOL DOSSAR JUST WANTS TO TRY ACT COOL AGAINST THIS GUY" or "wait, guides could actually be much better than they are now!" isn't my problem. Edit: This post probably looks confusing since I quoted subin, but I'm assuming you guys can figure it out

Re: Dossar's Concise Guide To FFR Scoring Types
I guess this probably ties in the reason I made the thread. It wasn't just for newcomers, I just assumed newcomers would me more interested since when aiming for high PAs, you can simply compare scores based on Goods so pros wouldn't need it. But it was actually meant to be a general thread for curiosity. For that reason, I took a bit more liberty with the way I explained it.
I'll admit it wasn't properly organized and I was going to make some changes anyways but I left to do other things. That, plus the fact that I didn't know this forum could make spoilers (idk why I didn't even check). Anyways, I'm not really mad, my only intention with the thread was to help. I'm assuming at least one thread will get stickied and I don't really care which one it is. I'll be completely re-editing the thread, simplifying both the explanation and formula when I feel like it, probably tomorrow. |

Okay, Dossar, I'll take back my statement. I apologize.
