...Uh....
Anyways, Reincarnate, cardio and a good diet is all you need (dur). If you really want something specific, I can offer a few tips: - switch all beverages to water - fat loss is ALWAYS uniform around the body so start jogging to lose the gut - make sure meals are spread out during the day and consistent (i.e. - 3-6 meals a day spread apart by 2-5 hours each) - eat lots of grains, veggies, and proteins throughout the day (stick with whole foods) - eat ground flax seed in the morning by sprinkling it on cereal or whatever other recipe tickles your fancy; a great way to make sure you have good fiber and omega-3 in your diet - minimum 30 minutes of "sweaty" activity a day Weight training is cool and all, but it sounds like your main goal is just to lose weight so it's not much to worry about. However, if you want to become a fitness nut for whatever reason, visit: http://www.exrx.net That website is essentially a fitness portal that explains everything you'll ever need to know. Also, if you do ever want to start weight training, here are some *ehem* proper templates: http://www.exrx.net/Lists/WorkoutMenu.html Have an enjoy.

Whatever works for you. I'm not treading on your routine.
As far as recommending workouts for others, I would never suggest chest(push)+biceps(pull) or back(pull)+triceps(push) on the same day if they wanted a split-day workout. Even more so if the person is a beginner due to a higher possibility of injury.

So, here's my personal opinion of a good way to lose weight.
Enjoy FFR? Play DDR! Its FFR, but with your feet! Eat healthy and whatnot along with daily rounds of DDR, and you'll lose weight in no time! All jokes aside, I did this in high school and got pretty great results.

However, if you're going to drink it, diet drinks are definitely the way to go. They're better for your teeth than the standard versions, and zero calories means that it won't affect your dieting at all.

I'm a big fan of swimming for workout purposes. It works a few things -- you get light resistance training on your arms/legs when stroking, and it does wonders as a cardiovascular workout. If you aren't a strong swimmer, stay away from deeper bodies of water, because there is a threshold from when you are tired, to when you just can't move/tread, and something like that is very likely to trigger nerves/fear.

Yeah Reach I am probably going to avoid diet drinks anyway, but I was just curious what the actual negative impacts were.

I don't recommend running as much. I tried it before, and negative effects: - Knee joints started hurting after 1-2 weeks (went away in another 2 weeks though). If your joints start to hurt, run lightly, take more breaks, and maybe take supplements. If the pain doesn't go away soon, then stop, because something is probably wrong. - During both seasons of cross-country running that I participated in, my left toenail (second one, "index" toenail) grew gray and then fell off completely. I suspect it was because my socks/shoes did not have enough slack. Fortunately, the toenail grew back both times, but it's an experience I never want to repeat. And I don't recommend weight training either, mainly because it stunts growth if you're on the young side and tends to cause injuries easily. So swimming is overall the greatest sport for improving shape. I can attest to this. Although I'm slightly on the skinny side, I'm definitely healthy: BMI is 18-19, and body fat is about 12%. Halogen speaks truth; stay in shallow swimming pool lanes when starting.

I feel to disagree, it may not be for everyone, but I get diarrhea from aspartame. It's not that it was a coincidence either, I had it for 8 days before realizing it came from the soda I was drinking.
Aspartame might not necessarily do anything bad to your body, but it may cause liquid excrementure.

P90x is pretty great.
(Its pirateable, just dont let them find out or they wont send you the fancy shirt) Although I can't really say much objectively about the "speed" at which you would lose weight with it since I also run 5 miles a day. |

Resistance training is the single best thing you can do if you're losing weight. The problem with relying solely on cardio to lose weight is you'll get large amounts of muscle wasting, and you'll end up looking flabby or overly skinny, depending on how much weight you lose. I've seen it a million times over. Ideally, you want to keep as much of your muscle mass as possible to give you a lean look. If you plan on looking even remotely fit, you need to do resistance training, and the best way to do it is to use weights. Also, any good weight training circuit is also a cardiovascular workout, so it's the best of both worlds.

my personal experience, find exercises you can do at home, buy a cheapo weight set and a skipping rope and don't eat like a fatty. i'm the kind of person that if I needed to travel to the gym or make any sort of special arangements to workout (unless its soccer), it would be too much hassle and i'd quit after a month
