Well, I don't have any game systems, but I've played each one of these at various locations (friends house, etc.)
I don't like GameCube because the only really addicting game on there is probably Super Smash (and I'm not even sure if it has that). I personally think PS2 is the victor here, because Microsoft has computers to deal with, and Nintendo has the DS to deal with. BUT I hate the PSP because I read the article that was also posted in this forum. DS is handheld, get it. |

Anyway, I would say it depends what kind of games you're looking for. If you're looking for good party/multiplayer games and excellent first party games, go with the GCN. If you're looking for RPGs or other single-player games, go with the PS2. If you like playing online, go with the Xbox. If you're on the go a lot, go with the DS. I personally prefer the GCN because it has the titles (Metroid Prime series) and characters (Smash Melee) I like even though I usually play by myself. Melee has easily provided me the most entertainment playing video games with friends because as casual players we are able to appreciate the comedic nature of the game while still maintaining a level of competition.

Okay here it is
Gamecube- If you want a bang for your bck get this. Everything about this is cheap. The cheapest system out no, pretty cheap games and etc. The Graphics are pretty Damn good if you ask me. But you can only play games. No DVD and such. Pretty damn good for Multiplayer, but the need to develope an official online system for it. PS2- Best all around system for the average gamer. Most extensive library of games( PS1 and PS2). Pretty Graphics again. Worst in durribilty though( put it somewhere low and out of the way). You can watch DVDs and listen to music. Not necessarily cheap but average i say. not multiplayer-freindly, unless you can get online XBOX-For the "pick up and play type" Okay/not very good library of games, ut you will buy it for Halo and Halo 2. The graphics are better than PS2 and almost equal with Gamecube. This thing is HYOOOGE. size of a VCR( support the TV on it) If you do not watch out you can stub your toe on it. Good Multiplayer and Best known for ONLINE. Will put a dent in the piggy-bank, not cheap what-so-ever. and finding 3 month old games for under 40$ in some places is not fun. Overall Gamecue- Good Graphics, Good library and cheap to boot. PS2- Best library of games, okay graphics right in the middle for everything pretty much XBOX- Not a good library, Good graphics. But you really just want it for Halo

To be honest, my PC's a piece of junk... otherwise, I wouldn't have an Xbox... but then there's Halo 2...

Xbox = Live + Halo 2. There are no other good games. I could count the number of good games for Xbox on one hand, or three fingers.
PS2 = Large amount of decent game. GCN = Awesome in every way possible. It's got great games, graphics, controllers, etc. I would choose GCN. DS = Good if you are on the go a lot, like Kilga said. |

Ok, I'm as big of a Nintendo fan as there is, but GCN is not awesome in every way possible. They don't have the best 3rd party support, and have very very very few good 3rd party exclusive titles (yes I know RE4, but what was the real good one before that?). However, they do have some of the most fun games. It doesn't have a hard drive/DVD player, as previous stated. But I'd say that overall it's your best choice, if you don't need any of that extra stuff.

Ok here is for all you fucking halo addicts. Wait for Halo 2 to come out on PC. Then sell your xbox and all your stuff for it. Then JUST FUCKING PLAY THAT BECAUSE ITS FREE ONLINE! Oh and with the money you have go fucking buy both a NES and SNES.

ahem...
PS2: -Largest number of games (most is crap but there is a lot of good) -Lots of variety in genres -Geared for all audiences -Backwards compatible with PS1 -Plays music and DVD -Functianal controler -Oldest so its hardware sometimes lacks (not always) -Can buy a HD -Has online play -Very fragile (breaks down alot for some, not for others) -Only 2 controler ports (can buy multitap) -2nd cheapest Gamecube: -Fewer games but most are excellent -Good variety of genres -Geared more towards a yourger audience (still has adult games that rule) -Has many popular franchises -Comfortable controller -Very good hardware (RE4 proves it) -4 controller ports -Only has online play for 1 game -Extremely tough (like, drop offa building tough) -No HD -Doesn't play music CDs or DVDs -Least expensive -Has tiny disks : P X-Box: -Decent number of games (some excellent games) -Has a limited array of genres (not many RPGs or party games among others)- -Geared to an older audience -Plays and saves music and DVDs -Has a built in HD -Huge controller (can be good or bad) -Graphically intensive hardware -Has great online play -4 controller slots -Heavy and bulky -Very tough DS: -Two screens (duh) -Innovative control (touch screen) -Wireless multiplayer chat and gameplay -Few games right now (system is new) -Graphics slighly better than N64 -Voice recognition -Folds up to protect screen -Backwards compatible with GBA (ok, i guess it does have a huge library) -Backlit -Long built in battery life -As expensive as ps2 And thats pretty much it... (im sure i forgot stuff though, oh well)
