These days, 1024x768 is the common low end it seems, and perhaps interestingly, that's also the vertical resolution that the low-end HD TVs have. Perhaps you just mean to say that you use a large HD TV as the monitor for your PC gaming? Incidentally, anyone who says console over PC is only saying so because their PC is garbage or they haven't invested where one needs to. There is literally nothing a console can do better than a PC. The only leg-up consoles have are exclusive games, but emulation can defeat that given enough time. But that's not a legitimate argument anyway. Software is software, hardware is hardware. If you're discussing the merits of the hardware, that's what you should look at, and frankly, consoles are just specialized computers that cannot be fully customized. I suppose one could argue in favor of the consoles having native standard controllers, but I don't think that matters too much; it's not difficult to use a 360, Wii, or PS2 controller on your PC, and things are even more openended thanks to all of the specialty control sticks, keyboards and controllers that are made specifically for PC gaming.
