I'm not an expert by any means, though what I've been doing is messing around a lot with EQing and reverb to add a sense of space to the recording and put a sonic imprint on presets.
I really do like the songs, don't get me wrong. What programs do you use? edit: love the reverb on the drums on Wizards Ascension. Also, donated $15 just now (the name on the account is not mine though).  Keep making excellent melodies.
