They work 90% better with aftermarket gfx cards :]
BUT, something that is commonly overlooked is sound. That is your enemy in Vista more often than not. Get the right drivers, right hardware, right keyboard everything is perfectly fine :]

Although I did play pretty well running normal FFR, I realized that I was too used to StepMania's resolution so I tried out .swf FFR and ended playing better. I got mostly all of my Challenging and VC AAAs because of it (and because I'm used to Vista delay). But once you've gotten used to .swf it's pretty hard to play on normal FFR again due to the size difference. My PA gets ruined on normal FFR unless I zoom in or use .swf FFR instead.

Id love to see someone AAA an fmo on vista. Is it just a coincidence that everyone who says vista works fine are people who have only played it on vista, and aren't good?
Recently installed 64 bit vista. 4gb's of ram, 8800 gt graphics card, and a 2.4ghz quad core cpu. Still has that just plain wrong feeling when i try ffr. It isn't lag, but it isnt smooth.

I think this is a result of me getting Vista just two weeks after joining, but I notice absolutely no difference when I switch between Vista on my computer (which I play on 99% of the time) and my mom's computer, which has XP.
I'm aware of the framerate being worse on Vista (I think it looks a tiny bit smoother on XP, but I haven't really noticed), but I don't see why others say it is so bad. However, since I can't play mirrored on my mom's computer, my PA is so much worse on hers that I couldn't safely say if playing on that OS would actually help my PA. I will admit though, I do get random late goods on a regular basis on Vista. Thankfully, I do not randomly miss. ~Bynary Fission Last edited by Bynary Fission; 10-18-2008 at 09:12 PM.. |

Uhh.. No, virus.
My PA doesn't even change whenever I switch between XP and Vista. The delay on Vista isn't even that bad as compared to XP. As Bynary said already, I'm not sure why most people's PA on FFR gets destroyed on Vista. I used to play on a XP computer before getting my new Vista computer too. I admit at first the delay was a little issue but after less than a week or so I quickly adjusted to it.

Am I the only person who went "Oh geeze I can't play FFR cause Vista hates me...isn't there something I can do...oh wait...here we go"
Right Click > Personalize > Windows Colors and Appearance > Open Classic Appearance Options > Windows (You can choose Standard or Classic [I use Classic]) I mean yeah, it's not absolutely perfect, but it takes away about 90% of the lag...and saves you from spending money on a Gfx card that you really don't need, unless your life is AAAing every song, than I guess that option ain't for you. Again, not a perfect solution, but probably the most obvious >_> (IMO) |

Actually i find vista makes the arrows early for me, but the keyboard response rate is slower.

I think if you read what Izzy posted it's fairly obvious what he's saying- that, for him, playing on Vista on an extremely powerful computer just plain sucks compared to playing on an XP comp with lesser specs.
Also, 14 goods on NWE is not close to BF, but regardless the point is not how well you do on vista, it's how much better you could do on XP. All in all it's really a stupid argument though, as Izzy pointed out (and as I have a while ago as well), the majority of players who claim not to have any issues with vista honestly just aren't that good, and really don't provide very good counter examples to high level players who do have issues (Izzy etc etc). If people want to gimp themselves by refusing to believe vista might have issues with FFR that's their own prerogative, but they shouldn't be using themselves as an example to try and convince others that they just suck rather there being a legitimate problem with their playing setup.

Ah, i think i love you egomaniacircus.
That pretty much sums up what i was saying. And i guess to all the good players who dont have issues with vista, you are lucky.

By good, he probably means being able to AAA FGOs on Vista which ironically I don't know anyone on FFR that has done that yet.
I AAA'd a FMO and have a few SDGs on other FMOs but I was obviously overlooked /insignificant

I have a 4300~$ computer, and vista is crap for me... I've blackflagged around 15 songs just this weekend and it's kind of annoying...
Vista is actually bad on some other games too... I have 230 FPS on Tibia for example, but I still lag on it... But Farcry2? NO PROBLEM
