I haven't had any problems but you really want to pair the distro you use to your hardware/usage if you're going to go over permanently. Read my earlier post if you just want to trial a live CD for just browsing/flash games. Otherwise I can make suggestions but I'd need to know more.
I didn't know the delay effected all Vista the old fix was to change PollStatusIterations to 1 in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\i8042prt\Parameters Has changing the delay to begin repeating helped any? Last edited by Mitsuho; 09-16-2008 at 11:29 PM.. |

XP 32-Bit: Light-weight, Fast, Reliable
XP 64-Bit: Turtle speed Vista 32-Bit: Broken & Busted like that grandmother across the street Vista 64-Bit: Faster then XP 64-bit, XP-32 Bit and Vista-32 bit if you have a dual-core system and atleast 2 GB of Ram. This is what I use, and I get better FPS rates on -everything-. Age of Conan, Oblivion, World of Warcraft, FFR, etc. |

Ummm, I'm running Vista Home Premium 64-bit, on a quadcore, with 6GB of RAM and I still have lag issues =.=
Vista = Fail. I'm going to ISOHunt to get a pirated copy of XP now. kthxbai |

True, Crysis doesn't equal FFR, but it IS the same general concept. If youor game isn't playing right, obviously something needs to be fixed. If other systems with Vista can handle FFR fine (like mine and several others), then that would seem to indicate that it's not really Vista that is taking the blame. Yes, booting into a free Linux version is a great cheap way to bypass the problem, but that's just it, you're bypassing, not fixing it. The most comprehensive solutions are rarely cheap, and even more rarely free. 'Tis a life lesson to be learned. So while I enjoy my Vista features, like animated backgrounds, DirectX10, and all the games I feel like with crazy high framerate, you guys can shift the misdirected blame onto an OS that is already a scapegoat. Just remember this. XP caught massive amounts of flak when it first came out, but then people realized that the change from 2000/9x to XP wasn't bad. And, later on stiil, they loved it. XP became the dominant OS. When Vista came out, it WAS horrible. Note the past tense. SP1 has come out for it, and fixed a large majority of the OS flaws that previously existed. My Vista system probably runs far better and smoother than 99% of the XP systems out there. So reject the wave of the future. After all, it's obvious that non-Windows/Mac OS are better, but unsupported. And Windows will seemingly always beat out Mac in terms of quantity. So, it's the only conclusion, that one day (2012 when XP support stops) Vista will be the premiere OS. And you'll all be stuck with it. :P

I used to play on a Vista, and it was horrible. I thought I just sucked because it kept on giving me Goods, but it didn't make any sense. You can't see the lag it's so minute, but you will very often get Goods you should have gotten Perfects on. It was hard to AAA even Free Space on my Vista...
In terms of just FCing stuff there won't be a difference because the lag is not big enough to make that kind of difference. But as you get better, if you're playing on Vista, you'll start to wonder... why does my PA suck? Your answer is Vista. Your math is a little off. The proper answer is Vista+FFR=REALLY bad. |

My dad has Vista on his computer and most games run very good but Flash just seems to run horrible on Vista, I can barely FC some songs on there because of the odd timing.

1) Right click on the desktop. 2) The first menu item, Popular programs something or other, and select terminal from it. 3) In terminal yype su <enter> and when it prompts you for the password type root <enter> than type get-flash-plugin <enter> 4) When that's done you can start firefox or repack USB/burn changes to cdr. If you repack than you don't have to get flash again if you start from the new burn or USB key. You can also get flash from the update manager in the lower right corner (Looks like a cardboard box). Flash is under the Mirrored tab under the letter G for 'get-flash-plugin' |

By the way guys, don't use failexplorer on Vista. That's just asking for trouble. Make sure you're using good 'ol Firefox.

Go to terminal
'tazpkg get-install slitaz-loram' say no to cromfs and install 'tazpkg get-install squashfs' Minimum ram requirements are 128MB for standard build. The above is for 64MB. There are tighter ones; do you need instructions for the 32MB ram version? |
