The professionalism of the internet is bound to crumble over time. Think about when the internet started. It wasn't even open to the public, and it was only used so that corporations could send very serious information back and forth. My generation didn't start using the internet frequently until age 12 or so. Now a bunch of people are getting laptops at age 7. Internet etiquette is becoming a joke, almost.

I personally support the notion of treating every place like Critical Thinking except for the occasional joke post.

I occasionally venture into the games section to try to sort things like that out, if only to get people to post content while they do post-whoring rather than just post-whoring. I think travman has the start of my most recent attempt in his sig.

TGB is seen too much as a place where you should have been funny but nobody has been funny. I always thought TGB was a sort of "anti-chit-chat" where you still posted chit-chat kind of stuff but it was more interesting and occasionally people were funny.

If we got rid of the panel and the requirement that you had to be funny then I think it would start to be a step in the right direction.

Irony would be that this thread is complaining about FFR, some people just choose to put it in a more blunt way. I don't really see too much wrong with the forums.

It happens, not everyone can find a thread. The search function seems pretty bad sometimes for finding things. Even when I know a thread exists and search for it sometimes the search bar will tell me no threads exist.

- another random **** thread etc....

All forums will end up with bad and good threads, especially one as big as FFR. You have to get used to it rather than letting it get to you.

Is anyone else sick of getting a post count raise from these?
So what, in those categories I'd say many of us have about +200 posts....

200 posts is about 2% of my total posts so I can't really say I care about post count from it. Not to mention I don't really do any of the above you've said. I think this is sort of an unnecessary thread because we all know about these.

Rather than complaining try thinking up reasons to sort them out.

This has happened in more places than just FFR, some people choose only to see certain aspects of my moderation either because they don't know about or just don't care about the other side of things. I go to bat for the users of this site -all the time- and half the reason I'm fairly successful at that is that the other members of the staff know that I take the job seriously, and don't let personal biases cloud my judgement.

Of the 25 bans ending soonest, -4- were given by me. One was for "Racism, flaming, and ban evasion" One actually should be a permaban as it was the first of the "Posting the giant browser crashing images" accounts before we realised it was all one guy. One was for posting porn, and one was a ban evasion re-ban.

Please tell me which of those you think demonstrates that I'm a ban-happy asshat please.

Compare my "4 of 25" bans to Jasonkey's 6 bans, Tasslefoot's 5 bans, and Guido/Stretchy combining for 7.

You do realize that people are not going to change for the sake of the forum? I know what you're complaining about, but I don't see how it's ever realistically going to change. And don't you think it's ironic that you were complaining about pointless threads that raise post-count and now just the same thing is happening in this one?

That is why people need to register for a separate account to play 1 mil get and that thread is in the Forum Games forum. There's a reason why we have so many different forums and that's for all the types of threads out there. We have the Games forum for forum games, General Video Games for video game talk, Chit-Chat for casual topics like this one here, and much more. If you don't like to a certain type of thread, just don't visit its forum.

So really, you're bitter about a ban you thought was unjustified (and which would have been for -1- whole day, you poor man) and decided to conclude I was an unfit mod?

As an aside, the "who made the last 25 bans" thing is how I usually respond to people who say I'm too heavy on the banhammer, and the results are -always- similar. As in, I've done that four or five times over the past several -months- and at no point am I the top, and rarely even in the top 3 givers-out of bans. So again, I'm not sure where you're getting this impression of me.

Well, in that particular instance my ban was for like 3 weeks or something, and you agreed it should be something more like 2. I forget what it came up to be but when we talked about it, you were pretty understanding. Yeah if your ban is 2 days and it's decreased to 1, that's nice too, but Devonin's even willing to discuss the bigger bans, and admit when he was a bit too harsh.

No mod's perfect but no poster is either, and at least if some mods will admit their imperfections, you have a better administration than a lot of message boards I've seen.

Stand in some other people's shoes for once. There are a whole bunch of reasons why some people use the forums and they are obviously not going to be the same as yours.

Just think about how users are treated.
Your treated well if: your name is recognized, your post count is large, you have a coloured name.
Your treated badly, generally, if: you have a low post count, no avatar, no signature, you aren't recognized. (Usually it's a combination of two or more.
