Dronak: i've been tossing around the idea of making secret songs go up to 500,000 instead of 100k. again, for the reasons of making them more valuable and making people make decisions. i want it to be the case where the vast majority of users can not access/play every song. it makes them more valuable.

so, i'll announce it for everyone... expect the next big song event to be multi-faceted... achievement tokens, purchased songs, and secret songs. yay!

That's going to **** over a lot of peoples' average ranks.

So now I have to whore FFR to play songs I could probably AAA in 1/50 the time it takes to get the credits. Great.

Guess I'll go wreck some tournaments for credits now, or something.

that does raise the issue of whether purchased and secret should be part of normal levelrank or special levelrank.

hell, if i had to make a decision.... i'd say that the 2 should be combined back into 1, and tokens should count for your levelrank. it'd mess the new users up a bit, but they aren't playing every song to begin with. and i can deal with having a few extra threads on "where is such-and-such song"

Yeah, I think tokens should count towards levelrank stats, or just remove purchased and secret songs from the levelrank stats.

First time I read this I thought you had left out achievement tokens and I got a little frustrated. ha

Edit: So The new song is not playable anymore if you haven't purchased it, but also I'm hearing new background music? Anybody else getting the same thing?

500000? Oh geez, that's gonna take like a year. Sucks for us non-lucky folks who can't make money appear out of nowhere

Oh well, personally I've always gone towards purchased songs since they stay bought, so at least I can theoretically get those.

I don't think the normal and special levelranks should be combined together, for two reasons. First, it would just encourage cheating on riddle tokens, since people who wanted to decrease their average rank would have more of an incentive to get tokens the easy way rather than actually spending the time to solve all the puzzles and find them the legitimate way. Second, where would the subscriber songs go? You'd still need a second levelrank for subscribers to check their ranks on those songs, and it wouldn't make sense to put them on the normal levelrank because then non-subscribers would have a bunch of 0-score songs that they can't get rid of by any in-game means. So I think I'd prefer to keep the levelranks as they are.

Yeah if things like 500k secret songs are introduced you may as well merge the ranks, since getting 500k credits is quite difficult (moreso than a lot of tokens). The only issue is things like vROFL and Oni scores will need to be cleaned up completely so they don't unfairly inflate people's average ranks.

The argument being that Oni and vROFL are valid tokens one can acquire. They are more difficult to achieve, but they can be achieved, and therefore should play a part in the levelranks like any other song.

I think vrofl should be taken off of the list if it gets put onto public AAA and fc chart. Only because its impossible to fc or AAA.

I'm not sure. That seems a pretty arbitrary reason to exclude it from the bars. I mean Death Piano doesn't look like it's going to be AAA'd any time soon (if ever) and it's included.

And to clarify my earlier point I should not be ranked 2,577 for vROFL if it is included. Due to the new challenge policy the unfairly obtained challenge scores should (ideally) all be wiped. However, I'm unsure if admins are highly enthusastic to do this :P Maybe some sort of score cleaning script could be devised, but this is way out of my league.
