![]() The american version, that is. And because i'm getting the controller, that means that i'm probably going to import some of the JP ones. So I have this to ask:
1. what are some good beginer songs on the USA one? 2. wat are the good JP ones? 3. Is this game worth 20 dollars (with controller)? |

![]() Hmm... Well... I don't know what song (I konw I keep playing that "good-cool" song from DDR). But I know that if you are new, try to play around with the Beginer charts before you go ahead to the Normal charts...
Also... @_@ IIDX has many good games (because of the songs) that I don't know what! IIDX Gold is out though. Has a nice number of CS-only songs. And I hope the game is $20. I got mines for $30 (as a B-Day present from sis.).

![]() CS = Consumer Service. (AKA the JP games...)
Heres IIDX GOLD CS: http://www.konami.jp/bemani/bm2dx/gs/14gold/ (I still like that shiny theme though.) And with that kind of price.... Get it. :P

![]() I don't know much about beatmania, but I know somethings about Lunatic Rave Online, Beatmania for the computer. Some FFR artists provide beginner level bms files (nekomimi mahoutsukai, GoSW and Amefuri Koneko are cool files, SHIKI has a lot too). I don't know if you can play those on the PS2 though.
Also, DJDAO CONTROLLER ftw.

2. Well, there are two ways you could think of this one. Beatmania IIDX 3rd style up to around 8th style have much easier songs in general than the later styles, but the interface looks a bit old, and the timing of hitting notes seem to be much stricter. On the other hand, Beatmania IIDX 9th Style up to the latest one (14th/GOLD) has newer-looking interfaces, more options/goodies, and a more reasonable timing. However, the songs in general are becoming much harder as the styles have progressed, it seems. Still, there's beginner mode so you could hone your skills first. 3. Heck yes. 20 bucks with a controller? Go buy it. I bought a Japanese KOC controller for 60 bucks, and even then, the beatmania US package I bought cost around the same price. |

![]() I wish I had a PS2 to play IIDX =(.
I would import the games. It looks so addicting.

![]() Well, I just recently, after literally 2 years of waiting until serious exams are over, went and bought me BMUS for the pad, and IIDX GOLD. =P
To be honest, I hate BMUS, because whenever I try it, my timing is horrible on GOLD. In terms of starting beatmania though, I think, re-thinking what I did, I would have kept to what I had planned and start initially with 12th HAPPY SKY. Supposedly very beginner friendly (GOLD is at first, but within 4-5 days or so I had passed everything from 1-6* and I could barely pass some 7*s). ;O; Also, the song list on HAPPY SKY is insanely good: 冥, Scream Squad, Votum Stellarum, Pink Rose, Agnus Dei, SigSig, CaptivAte ~浄化~, and quite a few others, to be fair. Interface seems very user-friendly, and IMO, of all the series so far, looks most awesome. xD Really biased opinion, but ah well. Hope you get on okay! =) Oh, and it's the first CS version to have timing adjustment if your TV lags or is too fast. |

![]() honestly, at this point, i just want the controller by itself and not the american Beatmania, because i heard the music selection sucks.
(THIS IS IMPLYING THAT I STILL HAVENT GOTTEN IT, AND I WANT TO BUY THE CONTROLLER BY ITSELF.) |

![]() Well, for the price you paid, that's easily worth it for the KOC alone, so don't worry about that. =P
If you're planning on using SwapMagic, that'll probably cost a bit over $20 with tools, or if you're using a standard PS2, a flip top/slide tool. Stick with getting BMUS just because you can kinda focus on the half-decent stuff until you decide on/get a JP version. I'd still recommend HAPPY SKY, by the way. ;O |

![]() Agreed. Might as well get the beatmania US game since there are some songs there that aren't crappy and are actually quite challenging.

![]() I have the japanese controller and the 13th and 14th mixes and must say they are quite amazing. I'm not very impressed with the American soundtrack for the American version though. What you should do is look into something like swap-magic for ps2...

![]() I own the USA version, don't buy it unless your going to get the JAP versions first. The USA versions only consist of some DDR songs. Making the game boring, and it takes forever to unlock songs.
